The rest of the day goes by very slow; hopefully choir will reboot my brain.

I walk in and take a seat next to Makenna, but she doesn't look at me. She grabs her music and doesn't say a word.

"Um, hey Makenna, are you okay?" My voice is almost a whisper.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." Her tone is so emotionless yet I know she's hurt.

"Makenna, what's the matter?"

"It's nothing, really, I'm fine," she says as she shakes her head. I know somethings up.

I look at her for a second before looking back up to the front of the class and the teacher still isn't here?

"Niall cheated on me!" I hear Makenna blurt like she's getting something off of her chest.

Woah. That was unexpected.

"Wait wait wait, what?" I am literally in disbelief because I know Niall is a good guy. Or is he? I guess I've never known him personally, I just kind of assumed.

"Yeah! You heard me."

"What happened?" I don't know what else to say?

"Let's just say he was being very flirty with a female referee." She says disgustingly. She's not really that well at showing her emotions.

"How do you know he cheated on you?"

"Well today, I was walking to my biology class, but then I spotted Niall talking to her. I walked a little closer to say hi but to my misfortune I over heard him talking to her. Ew. I just can't believe it."

"Well how do you know he was cheating?"

"He said she was flawless. That's when I stormed off."

"Makenna, that could mean anything. She could've had a flawless goal, or a flawless pass."

"But he said some other things."

"What did he say?" I regret asking right away. I know she doesn't want me know.

"You dont have to tell me," I add.

"Ok, I'd rather not."

I don't say anything. I really want to know, but if it's personal, it's none of my business. I know I wouldn't want anyone knowing about my past. Makenna's a great friend too, I wouldn't do that to her.

I drift back to my usual thoughts of Harry. I wonder if he's gone through anything like I have. Of course not. He has rich parents who own half of the docks in New Haven.

I wish we could be perfect together, but we can't. We're almost opposites. Our backgrounds are totally different. He grew up in New Haven, probably in a huge house, with no worries. While I on the other hand, I have grown up with basically no home and with no money. And I don't even want to bring up the harsh and cold memory of my father.

Choir went pretty fast but it didn't feel the same without Makenna. I mean, she was there but she wasn't. Her heart wasn't in it.

I feel sorta guilty going on this "date" tomorrow with Niall.

Oh my god. I'm going on a date with Niall.

If Makenna found out she'd never talk to me again. Now looking back I feel stupid for not noticing his hint of fire behind his eyes as he talked to me. How genuine his laugh was. How he winked at me before he left. I just thought he was being nice, friendly.

Maybe he is a player? I don't know him. But who would want me over Makenna? She is intelligent and witty and talented. She has such a great heart, who would want to miss out on that.

I get back to my dorm and do my homework and study for our upcoming test. My phone rings and the screen reads, 'Unknown Number.'

Um ok?

"Hello?" I say.

"Hey, is this Anna?"

I know this voice from anywhere. Harry.

"No, this is her friend." I try to stay cool.

"Oh? Well can you tell her Harry was calling for her? Wait, who is this?"

I'm kind of hesitant to say my name but gather the courage. "Kiara Westley." My heart is racing a mile a minute.

"Oh hey, aren't you on varsity soccer?"

"Yup!" Shoot. Play it cool.

"Nice, I think I've seen you around. Well I got to go, see ya later, maybe on the field?"

"Haha yeah, see you round!"

"Don't forget to tell Anna!"

I've had a crush on him ever since I've laid eyes on him.

"Will do." I sound defeated. He needs to notice me...
