Chapter 2: The Swamp-Pt 1

Angelina's POV

I sighed and tried to stretch but winced in pain. Link looked at me. I shook my head. "Don't even try and get me to sit this out cause I'm not. Your stuck with me now so get used to it. I'll be fine." I said smiling at him. Link frowned. I could tell he didn't like the idea. I pouted. "Please?" I asked looking at him. He quickly turned his head away and glanced at me from the corner of his eye before sighing. He nodded and I cheered. "Yay!"

Tatl bopped my head slightly. "Hey!" I said looking at her. She huffed. "We need to get started. I'm assuming Tael was referring to the areas around town so we should start with the Swamp seeing as its right there." She said. I nodded. "Tatl's right. We should start there. I'll stay close so don't worry Link. We'll get through this together." I said smiling. Link smiled a bit and nodded. He began walking with me and Tatl following closely behind.

We had run a good little ways out of town when we stopped for a short break by a large tree. Tatl seemed to have an interest in it. "I remember this!" She said. "Tael and I drew this with the Skull Kid when we first met him...He told us he had been fighting with his friends and that they had left him all alone..." she said sadly. I could tell this was both a good and bad memory. "After a while we played together. I'm sure it was because he was always playing tricks so nobody wanted to play with him. But...to do what he did just because of that...And once he got his power...I'm worried." She said flying over to me. I held her and looked at Link. "We should keep moving..." I said. Tatl agreed and Link nodded.

"Ew...." I said as Link cut a Green Chuchu. Some of the goo from its body had gotten on me. He looked at me. I nodded with a face. He turned away and I could see his shoulders moving slightly. He was laughing. "I'll show him." I thought grabbing some of the goo and throwing it at the back of his head. I laughed as he froze and the goo dripped down his hat. He turned to me with a playful glare and took off towards me. I screamed and laughed before running away. I saw a hole and jumped over it but before I could tell Link he fell. "Crap!" I thought rushing to the hole and peering into it. "Link..." I said worried.

After a while he jumped out and showed me the Deku nut and Deku sticks he found as well as 20 rupees. I smiled guiltily. "Sorry about the goo..." I said looking down. Next thing I felt was a but of goo on my head. I looked at Link and saw that he had put some of what was on his hat on my head. He smiled and shook his head. I giggled and we continued on.

I sighed as we walked and looked up only to see a man wearing a very tight suit. "Ah!" I screamed covering my eyes. Link was at my side with his sword out. I pointed up and he deadpanned before shaking his head and putting on his Deku mask. He aimed at the red balloon and shot. "You're too good at that." I muttered earning an eye roll from Link.

We walked over to the man who dropped. "Excuse me?" I asked looking at him, uncomfortably. The man began laughing. "Are you a green forest fairy?! My name is Tingle! I think I am the same as you, sir. A forest fairy!" He said cheerfully. I glanced at Link. "This man is crazy!" I thought to myself. "Alas, though I am already age 35, no fairy has come to me yet...My father tells me to grow up and act my age, but why? I tell you...Tingle is the very reincarnation of a fairy!" Tingle said hopping around.

"Now while I stand here waiting for a fairy of my own, I sell maps to help out my father." Tingle then began to hop back and forth. "Lucky! Lucky! You're so lucky to have a fairy! I know! I know! We should be friends!" He said never once noticing me. I looked down at Link(he's still in Deku form) and then back at Tingle. "Yes! Yes! In exchange, I will sell you a map for cheap as a sign of my friendship. Will you buy one of Tingle's maps?" Tingle finished. Link purchased the map of Woodfall so we could find our way around.

"We should get going. Right Link?" I asked looking at him. Link looked at me and saw that I was uncomfortable around Tingle so he nodded. He waved at Tingle before taking my hand and pulling me away.

Once we were far enough I sighed. "Sorry about that Link. That guy just freaks me out a little." I said looking at him. Link shook his head. I smiled.

After evaluating the map a bit we found a poisoned swamp area. "You must be a fairy child. What business might you have in this poisoned swamp?" A voice said making me jump. Link put his hand on my arm to calm me and we turned to an owl who had spoken. "If you dare not venture further, I shall pass no judgment. It is better that you retreat until you are ready to return." I frowned. "Please forgive my interruption but I refuse to turn back. No matter what I will go forward." I said determined. Link stood beside me and nodded. The owl nodded. "This swamp you are in has lost its guardian deity. But it was destined to fade anyway. And that destiny is not solely limited to this swamp. If you have the courage and face of destiny then continue on. And play the notes that are on the stone." He said. Link and I turned to the stone. Link pulled out his instruments and played it. I smiled. I loved it when he played. He was really good.

Once that was done with we went towards the building. I noticed a sign and went to read it. "Swamp Tourist Center ahead." I said looking at the building. "Let's check it out." I said walking towards it with Link close to me.

We went in and spoke to the man standing there. He apparently wanted us to find the lady who was in charge of the boat tours.

We left the shop and I looked at Link. "Let's get going. I'm curious about the ride." I said hoping down the ladder and waiting for Link to follow.

We jumped around in the water and managed to find an area of land. I laid on the ground. "Now I'm all wet. Great." I said with sarcasm causing Link to lay beside me. He pat my shoulder and we laid there for a little bit before Tatl bopped Link's head. We looked at her. "We need to keep moving. There's no time for resting. We have less than three days left." She said obviously wanting to hurry. Me and Link looked at each other and stood up.

After walking for a while we found a little shop. "This seems to be the place." I said looking at Link and Tatl. "Only one way to find out." We climbed up the ladder and walked in. We saw a lady sleeping at the counter.

"Ah...hmm... Now that's a problem... See, we sell potions to humans only." She said looking at Link. Then she turned to me. "Now we can sell to you girl...Welcome. My potions work very well, they do...Are you, by chance, a boat cruise customer? How unfortunate. Koume has gone into the woods out back, looking for mushrooms...Hmm... Now that I think about it, she's a bit late coming back! Say, could you go find her for me? Ask the monkeys that live in the forest for directions."
