"Kai. Skylar. Breakfast is ready!" The sound of Kai's mother's voice immediately woke the both of us up and we quickly sat up, trying our best not to fall off the bed as we did so.
We always slept like lazy kids, our legs sprawled out across the bed and sometimes we were already half out the bed, hands dangling.
"Shit," Kai muttered, rubbing his sleepy eyes after he had looked at the time on his phone. We were really late for school. "I thought you said you set the alarm."
"No. I told you to set the alarm!" I snapped back, getting up from the bed and quickly moving to his closet to fetch the few clothes I kept there.
"Well that's not what I heard," he muttered under his breath but loud enough for me to catch it.
I quickly pulled my shirt over my head so I could pop my head out the closet door and speak to him. "Maybe if you weren't so occupied with texting Dahlia, your ears would've functioned!"
He squinted his eyes at me and I quickly returned back into the closet, pulling a dress over my head. "Look who peeps at my phone to see what I'm up to."
"Oh shut up, like you don't interfere with my everyday life," I scowled at him as I stomped my way into the bathroom, after which he closely followed.
We stared at our reflection in the bathroom mirror for a second, and it was more than enough time for me to see that I looked like a mad woman.
Next thing I heard was Kai once again muttering under his breath. "Bride of Frankenstein," he had said.
"You're one to talk, looking like freaking Dumbledore."
I bumped my hips with his in the attempt of pushing him away, but he just walked back in. "Go use Eden's bathroom!"
"No. You go use it," he said, grabbing his toothbrush and turning on the tap. I quickly grabbed mine and put some paste on it...
Just like that, we had began a competition. We stared each other in the eye as we brushed our teeth, and when it was time to spit, we did so at the same time. Unfortunately for Kai, he was one millisecond faster than me, and so accidentally, it landed on his neck.
And he growled.

Pinecrest Hill High really had my senior year thought out.
I guess you could say Kai and I were well known, and in the past school years, we had always had at least two classes together.
This year, they made sure we didn't have even one.
I mean I understood where they were coming from. Kai and I would always make so much noise in class, and he'd occasionally get in trouble for me.
One time, I was texting away my friends in a group chat and just kept giggling, completely forgetting I was in class.. that was until the teacher called my name.
I was so scared I mistakenly dropped my phone, so she could see what I was doing under the table.. using my phone. And for some reason, that was a big taboo in her class. Even bigger than cheating, so she sent me off to detention.
Kai thought it would be the best solution to play a prank on her, and he got suspended for a while, almost expelled even.
The rumors that go around school would be that I'm the whore holding him back from his own life. They say I feel like I'm the shit because Kai Tatar has a crush on me and I was playing hard to get.
Funny how they know how I feel and I don't.
Anyway, Kai and our friends decided to just ignore those type of people, and that's why I mostly keep to myself... like the class I was currently in.
