Sam's POV

I woke up to white walls. I was surrounded by the sound of footsteps and machines. I turned my head over to the left to see Jimmy sitting next to me. I couldn't remember anything. I looked ahead again and everything began to come to my focus. I could make out a chart with doctor's names on it. Above was a television turned to the local news. I raised my arm to rub my eyes, only to be held back by a slim clear tube attached to my arm. I was in a hospital room. How I had gotten there, I did not know. I tried to get up off the bed.

"Whoa! Sam, just stay there ok." Jimmy said to me.

I sat up anyways. I watched as Jimmy made his way to my bedside.

"Jimmy, what happened? Why am I here?" I said in a panicked voice.

"Sam, you passed out on your living room floor, after I--" Jimmy stopped.

"After you what?" I asked.

Jimmy stared at me a few seconds and took a swallow." After I told you to listen to the reporter on the news this morning."

"Well, what did she say?" I asked, still confused.

"What's the last thing you remember Sam?" Jimmy asked instead.

There wasn't much, so I had to think for a minute." I remember you making breakfast. I-I called you Chef Bobby Flay. Then, we sat down--and I remember I was gonna ask you a question about our kiss. Everything after that is a blank to me."

"OK. Sam, after you asked me the question, we turned on the television and--and then---I can't Sam!" Jimmy said bursting into tears. He ran out of the hospital room and walked back in a few minutes later.

I looked at the time. It was 6 o'clock in the afternoon. I suddenly remembered the date I had scheduled with Daisy. I knew I had to get out of the hospital quickly. I started to ask Jimmy some questions about my state of health. Everything he told me seemed to be fine.

"So do you think I can get going now? I have a date with Daisy tonight remember." I said to Jimmy.

Jimmy turned his head away from me and walked towards the door. I could hear him mumble something under his breath.

"Jimmy what's wrong?" I asked, worried.

"Sam, Sam--Daisy was, umm, Daisy was found murdered today at her job......" Jimmy finally said.

The words hit me. Suddenly the whole day came rushing back to me. I was taken back to the first time I heard about her death on the news this morning. That was when I passed out. I laid back down in my bed. I started to feel warmth running from my eyes. Then I burst out in tears. I couldn't believe that this was really happening to me.

At that moment I regretted everything I had said to Daisy. I never meant any of it. Yet the last full conversation we had, ended with me telling her to go fuck herself. I felt sick. I through my legs to the side of the bed.

"Jimmy were's the bathroom!" I yelled.

"Over to the side." Jimmy answered.

I rushed into the bathroom and threw myself over the toilet seat. I threw up slightly and then I fell to the floor. I sat at the edge of the bowl for a minute.  I just needed to think and breath. I finally pulled myself back up, holding on to the railing in the bathroom. I washed my hands and headed back out the bathroom door.

As I walked out of the bathroom, I felt someone grab my arm from behind. I turned around, only to see a man in a LAPD uniform. I stopped to look at the guy closely

"Um, excuse me..I think..I think you might have grabbed the wrong wrist." I chuckled nervously.

"Nope. Hey Dole! You got the cuffs!" The policeman screamed down the hall." Just stay calm ser."
