I haven't seen Juno Kade since our high school graduation that took place on June 26th. That was three years ago, I now study at NYU as an English Major while working for a publishing company. Funny how life seems to progress before our very eyes and lead to unexplained possibilities, it didn't take me until I got to university to learn that lesson. With the help of my girlfriend who I like to think for standing by my side and helping me get out of a dark place. I never imagined my life the way it is now but someone helped me with that, I'm writing this story for the first person who really changed my life in ways I cannot describe.

Thank you, Juno.

Senior Year-

Juno had moved next door during my senior year at North Western High school located in New York, my mother was watching Mr & Mrs. Kade move boxes into their newly bought house.

"Oh my honey look, someone has bought the old gays house".

Now my mother didn't mean any rudeness while saying this, everyone has called that house the old gays because only old people have ever lived in it. Every month new people were moving into that house none of them younger than 70, one gay couple moved in two years ago since then the name has stuck with everyone on our suburban block.

"Josh honey how about I send you over with a casserole and you can see what they're like? I saw they had a daughter around your age".

Of course, since there was a teenage girl living next door my mother wanted me to fall in love with her. It was her biggest wish since I got into high school to find a girlfriend, the new neighbour gave her hope in her heart for me to fall in love.

I know you're hoping that I do (but I don't).

To please my mother I brought the casserole over around 5 pm, I knocked on the door twice. Before I could walk away a girl opened the door, she had mousy brown eyes and chestnut hair that was frizzy. Her front teeth weren't that straight and her skin appeared to have acne on her chin. She was the most average looking high school girl you could find but an appearance wasn't a big issue for me.

"Who are you?" Her voice was silvery as she spoke.

"I'm Josh Dykes I live next door, my mom saw you guys moving and thought you might be hungry and made a chicken casserole."I attempt to say in a polite voice, clearly faking it so I can just put down the damn casserole so I could get the hell out.

"Mom some food!" The girl screamed, a woman walked to the doorway from what I'm guessing the living room, the woman looked the same as her daughter except for the crooked teeth and acne but she had the frizzy hair and mousy eyes.

"Hi, thank you for this it looks delicious. Sorry if my daughter Juno had been impolite towards you".

"Actually she was very nice, but I should get going and let you guys get back to your moving and casserole". I replied to her, Mrs. Kade smiled at me and nodded before closing the red door.

Juno, not a name you'd hear around here or anywhere's for that matter. Yet somehow it described her, she didn't look like most of the girls here who wore high-end brands and enjoyed Marc Jacobs way too much. Juno was unique and that's what this girl was, unique and weird possibly?

When I arrived back at my house my mother had made breakfast for supper, her, my father, sister Jenny and I sat down in the dining room. Where my mother had bombarded me with questions about the new neighbour's next door.

"Mom they're nice i've only met the daughter and the mother. So far they seem like nice people okay?"

My mother just smiled, I know that my mom wanted me to make friends this year but it had already been two months into my senior year and the only person who has even tried to communicate with me was Asher my best friend since second grade. Although Asher was pretty popular none of his friends treated me like I was a person but instead a dirty gym sock whom no one wanted to go near.

"I've got homework so I'm just gonna go to my room and hopefully finish it, night." I told my parents before heading up the creaky old staircase into my room. My bedroom wasn't anything special it had a desk, a bed with striped bedding; a dresser a bean bag chair and was painted grey it was basic - I enjoyed basic so I enjoyed my room. I decided to actually do my homework instead of reading a book tonight, I pull my English book from my backpack and begin filling in answers to my homework.

When I finish I grab my novel and sit at my desk which is facing the window, a light distracts my eyes off my book I look up to see Juno in her room flashing a flashlight at the ceiling. I hoped that she wouldn't notice me watching her through the window. She did this flashing with the flash light 10 more minutes before turning it off. For some reason, I turned off my lamp too and climbed into bed.

The only thought going through my head was who's Juno Kade and what makes her so unique?
