Long ago, before Klaus came to torment the Salvatores, before Katherine was even a vampire, the Mikaelson's were a powerful family in the Germanic countries. They had been vampires for a mere 200 years in 462 AD, just before the fall of the Roman Empire. At this time, Klaus decides he needs someone to do the dirty work for him. So, he and his brothers Kol and Elijah set out to find the best hunter in all of Europe--and instead, find two.
Their search takes them to Rome, to the house of Senator Rufus Carvagi. Left without his wife, he raises his daughters the only way he knows how, to become hunters. Their skill far surpasses that of their father, and soon that of anyone in their town. Winning hunting competitions left and right, the Mikaelson brothers are soon drawn directly towards them.
This story chronicles how the Carvagi Sisters came to be vampire huntresses, and the beginning of Klaus' reign of terror.
