A/N: Hey guys! First of all, let me just tell you how excited I am to get back to writing! Seriously, I think the last time I posted any content on Wattpad was last May. That's an entire year. Don't worry, I didn't go that long without writing. I tried Nanowrimo (big emphasis of tried y'all) and then I started writing this story in February. And that's why we're here today! This piece was originally just going to be a one shot to get my latest OTP together (Kiryl and Alena are just precious) but I forgot how much I loved writing fantasy style stories! Seriously, this was all I wrote in elementary school, and now I've developed my skills enough to write it successfully. Anyway, moving along, moving along. I now present to you, the prologue to You, Me, and the World Between Us: Princess and the Priest! Enjoy!

Kiryl stood before the doors of the castle's sanctuary, his heart pounding loudly in his ears. He closed his eyes gently, shaking his head in an attempt to push all thoughts of doubt from his conscience. He straightened his tall priest's hat and smoothed out his robes, staring at the door with a look of determination in his eyes. He'd entered the sanctuary countless times prior without any fear, but the current reason he was headed in for frightened the young man. There isn't anything to be afraid of. I can do this, Kiryl reminded himself mentally, I helped save the world, for the Goddess's sake. But if that was the case, then why was it so difficult for him to open the doors and walk inside?

With a sharp intake of breath and all the courage he could muster, Kiryl swung the sanctuary doors open. However, he put far more power behind the push than he intended to, causing the door to hit the wall with a loud bang. Kiryl yelped, jumping away from the door in surprise. He sighed and shook his head. One thing he hoped to achieve when coming here was not to make a fool of himself; he hadn't even opened his mouth yet and he'd already done so. His eyes traveled towards the altar, where the Bishop stood with a startled expression. "Kiryl," he stated his apprentice's name, his face softening. He stepped down from the altar, walking down the aisle of the sanctuary. "What higher power brings you to me, my dear apprentice?"

The power of love, Kiryl thought to himself. He opened his mouth to utter the words, but he brought himself to a halt mid-thought. That is not the way to introduce this matter, he told himself, his face growing warm as he closed his gaping mouth and averted his gaze. Kiryl took in a shaky breath, wondering if this was something he was truly prepared to discuss. He'd kept his emotions locked away ever since he began to develop them, and he was the only person who was aware he even felt this way. His bottom lip trembled as his eyes once again met with those of the Bishop. "F-Father, as you are a true man of our holy Goddess, as well as my mentor, I've come to you with a concern of mine," Kiryl paused, biting his lip as he thought, "in the hopes that either you or the Goddess herself may be able to guide me."

"Kiryl, my child, what ever is the matter?" the Bishop questioned, stepping closer still to Kiryl. He pushed his brows together, staring intently at his apprentice, almost as if observing him enough could possibly give him the answer. That or the pressure placed upon the young male would cause him to reveal whatever it was that troubled him. At the moment, the latter seemed more likely to occur. Kiryl's eyes darted quickly away from the intense stare of the older priest, rather focusing his gaze beyond him towards the back of the sanctuary. He sighed, giving in to the pressuring stare from the Bishop.

He felt as if his entire being trembled out of fear, and suddenly he felt like bursting into tears would be a much better option. Kiryl gulped, trying to ignore both his heart hammering against his ribcage and the little voice in the back of his head crying out, don't do it! The young priest looked down, wringing his hands. "W-Well, Father, it's..." he trailed off, looking up into the Bishop's eyes. The older man nodded, urging Kiryl to continue. "It's... There's a y-young lady in my life, that I care for very strongly, a-and..."
