I wake up to a knocking at my door. When did I fall asleep? Ow, what’s poking me? I look around and see my book poking into my arm. Oops, fell asleep reading again.
I hear the knocking again.
“ONE MINUTE!” I yell.
I head to my bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth real quickly.
Heading downstairs my eyes land on my parents first and then I realize that Andy is there at the table eating some bacon and a pancake.
I wish I would of changed. My star wars t-shirt and mountain dew pajama pants seem extremely grungy, especially since everyone else is dressed for the day. Huh, oh well, at least I brushed my teeth and don’t have morning breath.
“Hey..everyone…what’s up? Where’s the food? What time is it?”
“Hey sweetie,” my mom said, “The food is on the counter and it is 2. You slept most of the day away. Your dad and I are going to look around town today and we have a surprise for you when we get back. Andy will show you around town while we are gone and introduce you to some kids your age.”
“Oh, okay.” I didn’t bother asking about the surprise, they wouldn’t tell me even if I offered a million dollars. “Thank you, and I’ll see you later mom.” And with that I grabbed bacon, pancakes, some orange juice, and syrup.
When I plopped down at the table I smothered my food in syrup. Yes, even my bacon. It is very yummy.
“Hey Yasmine, you do realize you just drowned your bacon in syrup along with your pancakes, right?” Andy said. “Yup.” I replied, popping a piece of delicious syrup-y bacon in my mouth. “That is disgusting. How can you mix bacon and syrup?” “It is not disgusting! It is delicious. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it.” I said, defending my precious bacon. “Okay weirdo. Haha. Well anyways, hurry eat and get ready then we’ll leave. We are going to head to this little café in town where a bunch of kids from my highschool hang.” “Okay, sounds like a blast.” I said while stuffing my face. “Make sure you don’t choke Yasmine. Rather not have to do the Heimlich maneuver seeing as I have no clue how to.” “Don’t worry, this is how I eat in my own domain. And don’t look at me like that! Like you don’t stuff your face in the privacy of your OWN home!” I said. “Sorry, I’ve just never seen a girl eat like that. They always get self conscious and all that.” “Well I am not like that. And I never will be. Those kind of people irritate me.” “Good, I’m glad. Well I’ll be in your living room while you are getting ready.” “Okay, see you in a few.” I said while running up the stairs.
Hmm…what should I wear? I scope around my closet. I think I’ll wear that cute new dress I got from Maurice’s a few weeks ago along with my cowboy boots.
After I finish dressing I head to the bathroom to do my hair. Hmm..what to do what to do. I think I’ll just leave it straight. Curling it would take about fifty thousand hours. What I’d give to have curly hair.
As for my make-up I think I’ll just add a bit of mascara.
I look in the mirror and glance over myself. Good enough.
I grab my favorite sunglasses and head out.
“YO ANDY! LET’S GO!” I yell from the front door.
I hear footsteps behind me and I turn around quickly.
“You’re already done? It only took twenty minutes! Most girls take hours.” Andy said.
“Well, I’m not most girls. Now, LEGGO!” I said while dragging him out the door.
We hop in his car and drive.
After about five minutes of awkward quietness I turn on the radio, trying to find a good station.
