Pow! I heard the sound of someone getting hit. It was a sickening sound, the sound of bone against bone. I cringed more until I was practically lying on the ground. The fighting continued, yelling, screaming, and that sound. It was awful. Then, I heard footsteps slowly dying away until all that was left was my breathing, and my rescuers. I looked up, not suprised at who I saw.
Maxson.
He was looking away from me, but I could tell that he got hit. There were drops of blood on the ground in front of him. I began to get up, but he held out something in his hands. My glasses. I put them on. "Are they on?" he asked. "Yeah, they are..." I muttered. "Good."
We stood there in silence for a few minutes. I remembered what Eva had said back at the coffee shop and I opened my mouth.
"You don't have to say anything. I already know what you're going to say." Maxson said. I closed my mouth and looked up at him. He had turned around to face me, but he kept his eyes on the ground. "I know I told you I wouldn't love you anymore, but I can't stop. You were just too beautiful. I tried not going to school, but I got addicted to driving to your work so I could see you. I couldn't stop myself, and now I sound like a stalker." He chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head. I looked at his face. His nose was bent and he was bleeding badly. He took a beating for me. I couldn't hold myself back anymore. I threw my arms around his waist and held him close.
"What? Adie, what are you-"
"I'm sorry, Maxson! I'm so sorry!" I began crying. He hesitantly put one hand on my back, and then held me close to him, squeezing me and rubbing my head, ocassionaly kissing the top of it.
"It's ok, don't cry. Shhhh-shhh-shhh, don't cry. It's ok, it's ok, I'm here." Maxson said in a soothing voice. I stopped crying as hard, but tears still ran down my face.
"Don't ever leave me again. Stay by my side." I said into his chest. He pushed me away slightly and looked at me, stunned.
"But, Adie, you said-"
"These few days have been a wake up call, haha." I said. He looked at me with his intense gaze.
"You know what this means, right?" he asked. I nodded, looking down. We stood there like that for a while.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked. I hesitantly nodded.
He leaned in, placing his hand on the back of my neck, and kissed me. His warm lips touched mine, sending sparks throughout my whole body. He pulled me closer to him and I placed my hands on his chest. He started moving his lips, and I moved mine with his.
We pulled back and he put his forehead on mine. "I love you." he whispered. I smiled. "I love you too."
