Brooklyn's P.O.V.
I was, what you would call, quiet... I loved to read and would read a lot. I wasn't like other girls... I didn't party or have a boyfriend all the time. I liked music and singing, but I also liked staying out of trouble. I loved the ocean and the color blue. I loved thinking about different things, and I loved to dream. I was a dreamer and a hopeless romantic I guess. At least part of one maybe....
As I walk over to my small reading nook, which gives me a beautiful view of the ocean, I sit down with a book in hand and begin to read.
I've lived in California for a long time, mainly near the beach. Jane and I loved the ocean and so, here we are!
I read for a few minutes and then she walks through the door.
Jane was my best friend. With green eyes and red hair you would think she was Irish, truth be told, she was.
Her Dad and Mom came to America from Ireland, so her accent was very noticeable.
"Hello." I say as she walks into the little room.
"Hello, are you going to the movies with me tonight?" She asks.
"Who's going?"
"My boyfriend Niall and I." I say.
I knew what Jane would do.... She would have me sitting in the very front and waiting until he was gone to leave with her.
"Actually, I think I'll stay home. This is just your third date with the guy... Plus, when am I going to meet him?" I ask.
"You know my rule.... If we stay together for a month, you get to meet him, if not then I'll just show you pictures of him."
I roll my eyes and smile.
Typical Jane. She was a very nice girl, but she could also be your worst nightmare if you did her wrong.
"I'll see you later, Jane." I say, starting to read my book again.
Jane reads too, but mainly, she's too busy.
She took over a small restaurant in town and turned it into a tourist attraction.
She renamed it and everything, now, it's very popular.
As I hear the front door close and turn the page I notice that something's weird...
I've never really been alone here before, but now I am.
It's a cool feeling but also a different one. Normally, I'd go with Jane, but I know that if I were to go, I'd be a third wheel.
I hated the feeling of being a third wheel, it really got to me at times... Like with Jane's last boyfriend Lake, all it took was one time to know that I wasn't needed there.
Lake didn't even want her to bring me, but I went just to tick him off. To be honest, Lake was a jerk. Believe me, I know a jerk when I see one. But not all of the guys Jane's dated have been jerks, some were actually quite nice...
Like Jared, Jared was a very sweet gentleman. He treated Jane right, but sadly, it didn't work out between them. Their feelings for each other weren't growing like I'd hoped they would have.
Once I get to chapter four, I set my book down and look out at the ocean. Today is a beautiful day for a walk on the beach.
I decided that that's what I'd do. I placed my bookmark in my book and went outside.
Once my feet felt the sand, I was relaxed. I went towards the waters edge in hopes of finding a sand dollar or something. I was always shell hunting. Jane liked to do it too, but since the new boyfriend, she's been doing it with him.
Apparently Niall likes to help her find seashells. Which is fine, but I miss my best friend.
Jane's told me a few things about him. There's only certain times they can hang out, which is odd. He's Irish too.
Little things here and there.
I asked her how they met and she said that it was a secret. As the waters comes to greet me I smile. It's beautiful, I love Summer, it's my favorite season.
Walking alongside the shore, I look out at the beautiful blue sea. Memories of everything flood my mind.
I'm not like most girls my age... Like Jane, she goes to parties and everything, but I'd rather stay at home and read or something.
Parties can be fun, if they're the right parties. Parties that are just for fun, no drinking, no drugs, no underage drinking. Nothing like that... That's not fun to me, that's dangerous! I walk back home looking around at the empty house wondering what I should do.
Jane wouldn't be back until late tonight, even though she left early. She probably wanted to spend some quality time with Niall. I don't blame her, but I just wish we could hang out more. With the restaurant and everything, things have changed tremendously!
A/N: This is a story that I've been working on behind the scenes. All of these chapters are ones that have already been written, but they were written a while back so if their crappy, I'm sorry.
This book is not completely finished yet but I have about 14 chapters of it done and I will start working on the rest of it soon. I'll also try to make the chapter better when we get to the end of these already made chapters.
