I've worked at Fizzie's, a small coffee shop a few blocks from my house, for about a year now. It's really great actually, I'm quite close with the people there, they've been here since I started. We normally don't hire anyone because it's already a small business but since our last store manager Derek got fired, we had to get a new one.

I walked into work bright and early. I've been doing opening shifts for about three months now. I actually like it because I get things done with in the morning and I have the rest of my day to myself. I could never do a closing shift. I need my sleep.

I put the fresh baked muffins into the display case along with the other baked goods I had just made.

"How many coffee pots are you thinking we'll need today?" asked Naomi, a small frail girl who was three years older than me, but seemed like she was three years younger.

She's been working here for two months now and is still just as clueless and someone who started a week ago.

"It's Saturday morning." I started, grabbing more coffee pots from under the cupboard. "Means a whole lot of coffee. Get all of the pots started." I shook my head, continuing with my work.

"Right, sorry." She said nervously, rushing back to her station.

The bell rings on the door, indicating the first customer.

"Hi, what can I get for you?" I asked politely to the man in front of me.

"Nothing." He shrugged.

"Oh, okay." I nodded and walked back to the coffee that needed tending.

He cleared his throat loud enough for me to turn around. "I didn't say I was done."

"I'm sorry." I walked back to the till.

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes.

First customer and I'm already getting sassed. Great way to start my morning.

"Can I speak with your manager." He raised an eyebrow slightly.

"She doesn't come in until nine, sorry." I looked into his dark brown eyes.

I hadn't realized that past his slight rudeness, he was actually quite good looking.

"K then." He rolled his eyes and walked out.

I took a deep breath before turning back to the coffee.

"What was that all about?" Naomi laughed lightly.

"I have no idea but I have a feeling he'll be coming back in a few hours.

Two hours go by and many cups of coffee are gone before it is nine o'clock. Janelle, the morning manager walks in on cue. She's never late.

"How'd the morning go?" She asked, slouching off her bag and putting it in the back.

"Not too bad, ran out of coffee a few times," I look to Naomi who's face turns red slightly. "But not too bad."

"That's good to hear, you can go on break now." She nodded towards me. I comply and make myself a cup of coffee before sitting in my favourite chair that over looks the tall mountains beside the cafe.

After drinking my coffee, I still had well over fifteen minutes left so I decided to get some fresh air. After all, I will be cooped up inside for another six hours or so.

As I walked around the cafe I began to hear loud music coming from a distance. It wasn't long before I saw a red car speeding into the parking lot with thumping music.

A guy who seemed about six feet walked into the cafe. It was totally the guy from earlier. I cut my fresh air time short, and made my way back into the coffee house. I need to know why he wanted to talk to Janelle so bad.

As I walked in I saw him shaking hands with Janelle, a smile that seemed almost fake was spread across his tan face.

"Hey Jill, this is our new store manager Kieran." Janelle smiled. I then looked at Kieran who's fake smiled had disappeared and been replaced with a devilish smirk instead.
