CHAPTER TWO
A line up is the people who are lined up to adopt you. I’ve never had ‘no one’ as my line up. “How can this even happen?” I wailed into my pillow. After Carly left, they knew to leave me alone in this room, so no one was gonna hear me. I picked my head up and dried my eyes. ‘Wren, kitchen duty. Report to kitchen please.’ The intercom buzzed. “Thanks. Be there in a second.” I said back. I tied up my Converse, pulled on my hairnet, and started off to the kitchen.
‘Be nice to Wren; she’s in a bad mood. She doesn’t have a line-up.’ I heard people say as I entered the mess hall. I tromped right over to the kitchen, and started placing burgers all over the frying pan and putting fries in the deep fryer. This was the easiest dinner. A note above the grill said Make sure you include some vegetables. –D Fries were considered vegetables, right? I just don’t understand how I couldn’t have a line up! I posed for my picture uber cute, and all the information that I gave was pleasant! Maybe it was my strike record. But it’s never stopped people before. Ugh. This is so annoying. I’ve never lived here for more than 3 months at a time. And I don’t wanna change that! I smelt smoke. Bad memories! I started flipping the burgers frantically, trying to make it smell better. I gave the fries a good shake. I took the plates, cups, and silver ware out, and dinner was ready.
