Riley's P.O.V:
I stared at Lucas all period, he hadn't changed at all. His green eyes still felt like they could see my soul, his flawless face remained as it always has been. I noticed Farkle approaching Lucas, "Lucas," he grinned."Farkle," Lucas returned the smile, a blush formed on my cheeks. I quickly summoned it away. "Wow Farkle, you look so different, How's Smackle?" Lucas blurted, pure excitement radiating off his face. I heard Farkle explain what happened, they both exchanged what has been happening for them. I continued my work, trying to focus on American Civilisation as best I could. "Where's Riley and Maya, I assumed they were in this class," he questioned Farkle. "Right here Huckleberry," Maya announced, she swaggered over to him and hugged him. I stood up and walked over to Maya, Lucas eyes lifted to mine, recognition formed in his face. "Oh look Sweetie and Ranger Rick still have eyes only for each other," Maya snickered. Lucas ignored her comment and continued staring at me in awe, "Riley," he whispered. Emotions bubbled inside me as I stared into his green eyes, "Lucas," I said. "I've missed you," he offered for conversation. "I wish I could say the same," I returned, I turned around and rushed out the classroom.I found myself sitting on the toilet sobbing, I had finally let my mind take me back to the day Lucas left.
Late Grade Seven...I was sat in the window visiting Riley Town when there was a sudden tap on the window. I glanced at Lucas, "Hey," I smiled. "Hey Riley," he said his face showing no hint of emotion. My mind filled with worry, as I wondered what could be bothering him. He turned to me a serious expression on his face, his eyes studied me. "What's wrong Lucas, why are you looking at me so weird," I squeaked barely any noise falling out of my lips. "Riley, we need to talk," he smiled grimly. Anxiety chewed at my mind as I thought of all the possible reasons he was here to talk to me."Riley, My Papa Joe passed away," he whispered. I pulled him into my arms and squeezed him hard, the scent of pine trees filled my nose. I watched as tears formed in his eyes, "Lucas it's gonna be okay, I'm here for you," I cried. He slowly let go of me and rose back into his normal position, he glanced at me with a sad expression on his gorgeous face. "Riley, I want you to know that I'm going back to Texas for his funeral," he said. "Of course you are, when will you be coming back?" I replied. His eyes dropped and he fiddled with his wrists, "Riley I don't think I'm coming back," he whispered. I stared at him, I wished so hard that he was joking but I saw the truth hidden behind his eyes. "Lucas no, you can't do this to me. You can't just abandon your friends like this, we need you, I need you. Who do you think Maya's going to tease or Farkle is going to trust and who else do you think I'm gonna love like you. You can't do this to me, your the first guy and the only guy I'm ever gonna love, where else am I going to find another Lucas Friar. You can't leave after everything we've done for you, just because one shitty thing is happening in your life doesn't mean you get up and leave. Lucas this is your home, we are your home. You have so many reasons to stay and your choosing the one that makes you want to go. Please don't do this to me. I fucking love you Lucas Friar," I sobbed, my body trembled. "I'm sorry Riley, I need to go home," he pulled me into his arms. "Lucas, can't you fucking listen, we are your home," I screamed, I pounded his chest with my small fists. Sobs kept escaping from my mouth. "Riley, stop making this so hard, your breaking me," he cried. I looked at him, a sudden burst of hatred rose in my body. "Lucas, I love you, please stay," I whimpered. "Riley, I can't," he responded, he pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my forehead. "Lucas, I will never forgive you if you leave me," I whispered. He withdrew from the hug, he looked at me and pulled me close. He bent his head to mine, his caramel coloured nose pressing up against mine. He stared me into my eyes and slowly pressed his lips to mine, I felt a tear fall onto my face, it took me a while to recognise they weren't mine. Lucas drew apart from the kiss and slowly turned. "Please Lucas," I whispered. "Goodbye, Riley Matthews," he returned, his voice equally as quiet. "I will never forgive you," I repeated. He looked at me once more before he went through the window, "I'm not sure I'll ever forgive myself either," he whispered, the words barley reaching my ears. I sat in the silence, I slowly collapsed to the carpet. I shook, sobs filled the empty space, I realised then that Lucas had broken me and I don't think I will ever be able to pick up the pieces.
My mind returned to the present, I stared around the empty bathroom. I slowly stood up and rubbed at my swollen eyes. I realised I needed to try pick up the pieces.
Lucas P.O.V:
Maya stormed up to me, fury radiating off her face. "Ranger, what did Riley mean by that," she whispered furiously. I flashed my eyes up to Maya. "Fine, don't tell me. Excuse me but I have a bestfriend I need to go help," she stated, she whipped around angrily and marched off to where ever Riley had ran too. Farkle ran after Maya, I surprised myself as I realised they had a thing, the way he was looking at her, directly into Maya's eyes. The way you used to look at Riley, I thought. Farkle slowly came over to me, "What the hell happened between you and Riley?" he asked. "You might wanna sit down for this," I replied, pointing at the chair. I slowly explained what happened, he looked at me the whole time, his eyebrows kept raising. "Fuck you really stuffed up, this is worse than non-biodegradable plastics," Farkle said. "I know," I groaned, I scratched at my head. "The worse thing is, I don't think you're ever gonna be able to get Riley back," he stated. "Thanks for the reassurance Farkle," I smiled sadly. "Lucas, I know that you have your issues with Riley, but I have something big too," he said. "And what's that?" I questioned. "I think I'm in love with Maya," he blurted.
Riley's P.O.V:
"Are you sure your not angry Maya?" I asked once I finished my story. "No Sweetie, I could never be angry with you," she smiled at me. I placed my head on her shoulder, "The only thing I don't understand is, why didn't you tell me? You know I'm here for you, Riley remember I'm here with you to take on the world," Maya said. "I wanted it to stay between Lucas and I, but once I saw him today I just shut down," I explained. "What am I gonna do?" I whispered. A smirk emerged on her face, "We are gonna help you move on, yeah that's what we're gonna do," she grinned. I let out a sigh, "We're throwing a party aren't we?" I muttered. "Yes we are, because you my friend are overdue for a rebound," she smiled. I let our another sigh, knowing we were going to get ourself into another mess, but I knew it would be all okay if she was by my side. Who needed Lucas.
