I scurried out of that classroom, as fast as I could move. I couldn't risk Danny looking at me again.
He was so perfect. He made my heart jump at the thought of him smiling at me. It was an actual smile though. A proper one that he voluntarily gave to me. It may have only been one look, but it still made my heart sing.
I'm just Tessa, the resident nerdy girl, the only girl not invited to the big parties. Whereas Danny, he's a legend in everyone's eyes. He's a math whizz, a legend when it comes to sport and he's such a genuine person.
As I swing my locker open and drag my bag out, I step back and knock someone over.
I quickly turn around and see that its Danny. Just my luck.
"Are you okay?" I mumble as I help him up and begin picking up his fallen books.
"I'm fine, Tess." He replies. The way my name falls from his lips, makes me freeze for a moment.
I smile gently. "I'm so sorry! I should've been paying attention!" I stumble.
"Its fine, honestly, its a mistake, anyone could've done it." he says as we both stand up, "I'll see you on Monday!"
I wave quickly before turning to my locker and taking in a deep breath.
I actually said something to him that wasn't stupid. I smile to myself.
I load my books into my bag and begin the walk home. At least he knows who I am.
I continue to let my mind play with the thought of him liking me, but the reality hits me and I sink deeper in to the pit of sadness I'd dug a long time ago.
Maybe, I would one day find the courage to have a proper conversation with him.
