The day dragged on and they grew closer and closer to where Jack wanted them to be. Danae didn’t sleep much of the last night, so she spent her morning and afternoon asleep in the Sleep Quarters of the ship.
Jack didn’t seem to find any luck with his compass. He sat in his study with his legs kicked up his desk with his compass in hand and a Bottle of Rum. He had found Danae’s hidden stash of drinks last night, so he took advantage of it. He took a nice long sip and opened the lid of his compass.
“I know what I want.” He said over and over again, but the Compass didn’t help him.
It kept pointing out towards Captains Quarters. Jack shook his head and kicked his feet of f of his desk and walked to the glass of the door. His eyes scanned the quarters, looking for the object and or direction that the compass pointed at. Not surprisingly, the pointer stopped at Danae, who was still tossed over on her other side sleeping upon the hammock.
“This thing is useless.” He muttered and threw it onto his desk taking another sip of Rum. “That’s better, much better.” He muttered to himself. Just as Jack was about to take another swig of his drink, he felt a burning sensation in his left hand causing him to drop his bottle.
It was the Black Spot. It had bothered him for a few days, giving him the occasional tickle in his hand, but never before did he feel this… this burn. He began to panic a slight bit. No one knew he had the cursed Black Spot, he didn’t want anyone to know either, this was meant to be kept a secret. He ran back to his desk and began to search frantically through his drawers of stolen junk and valuables that he collected over the past few years in hope of finding a cloth.
He didn’t find any in his desk he sprinted his way to his shelves of Junk, or in his eyes valuables. To his luck, he was able to find and old worn out cloth, it was rather thin, but useful enough to hide his Black Spot. He grabbed one end of the fabric and wrapped it around his hand covering the gash of black that appeared on his tanned skin. As soon as he finished, William had walked though the door.
“Jack.” He said as the captain turned around, “We have to get onto the row boats, we’ve made it near the Pantano River. Orders?”
“Aye, get onto them.” He stated simply. Will furrowed his brows.
“That’s it?” Jack narrowed his eyes and walked towards him.
“Well what? What do you mean that’s it? That’s all we have to do to go an meet her.” He said.
“Meet whom?” he asked.
“All in good time lad.” He smiled; Will however was still not convinced.
“Is she going to help me with Elizabeth?” he asked. Jack cocked his head to the side and smiled.
“Literally no, technically yes.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means, she will help us locate the key, by finding the key Will, we will be able to find the thing that unlocks it. I will then give you my compass so that you can free your dearly beloved… Savvy?”
“Are you going to promise me this? Or is this just another one of your scandals so that you can get what you want most and leave everyone else hanging?” Jack raised his brows and pursed his lips.
“I will not! Why would I ever do that? That doesn’t sound like me at all now does it William?” Will rolled his eyes, “Nothing to say? Good! That means I’m right.” He began to fiddle with the cloth that was wrapped around his hand, “Now, lets go and get some answers now.” He walked out of his Quarters and closed the door behind him leaving Will alone inside.
“What a bloody idiot… I hate him.” He muttered.
