"Fuckers!" Henry swore loudly as she watched the jelly spilling from her locker splatter on the floor. She kicked her feet, trying to rid her black mary janes of the sticky, oozy red jelly clinging to it. All around her the guys were laughing, leering at her with their fingers pointed. She sighed and stalked off, aiming to look for the janitor. Fuckers.
"Did you hear about the jelly?"
Miles looked up from his book to see Chase standing in front of him, splotches of reddish pink ruining his white uniform shirt. In his rusty red hair were a few chunks of it.
"You look like a girl wiped her period on you," Miles laughed. "What the fuck happened?"
"I slipped in it," Chase covered his face in embarrassment. He let out a strangled noise.
Miles bookmarked his page and closed it, his face suddenly serious. "Was it Henry?"
He nodded. "They meant it for her, yeah. You think we should step in?"
"I don't know," Miles shrugged as he looked out the window.
"Me neither," Chase sighed as he slumped into a chair.
I wonder what they'll come up with tomorrow, she smiled wryly as she shifted herself. The bark of the tree scratched against the bare skin of her legs. Henry dived through her bag for her lunch as she admired the view.
"Hopefully they're too dumb to think of this," she mumbled while she poured her small flask of hot water into the cup noodles.
Henry leaned back against the trunk of the tree, chewing on her noodles. She grinned, ignoring the steam in her face. If I'm honest with myself, I'm actually enjoying it a bit. Her smile depleted to a small complacent smirk. Henry let out a small bark of laughter. She wondered when the boys of Class C would realize that she'd rigged the showers to spray freezing water and mixed their shampoo with itching powder as well. It's certainly going to be interesting to see them after their gym class today.
Henry kept to the back of the group as the rest of her class walked ahead to Science. In front of her, she could see James and Marc talking animatedly to each other. James clapped Marc on the back, and in turn, Marc stole his glasses. Henry kept her snort quiet while she watched James fumble stupidly. Suddenly, the two turned to her, stopping momentarily to wait for her to catch up. She cocked her head to the side.
"Yes?" Henry asked, blinking at Marc (who still had James' glasses perched on his nose) and James.
"You're slow," James replied. "Hurry up, 'cause if you're late to Science, Tane'll give the whole class a detention."
Marc and James grabbed both of her arms, dragging her up the stairs.
"Hey, let go! What do I care if y'all get detentions? You were the ones who put actual spiders in my gym shorts yesterday!"
"You're still sore about that?" Marc snorted. "If you want to be accepted by our class, you gotta go through it. Everyone went through it, and just because you're a girl that doesn't mean you get excused."
Henry yanked her arms away from the boys and stomped into the classroom herself. She waited for Mr Tane to arrive since if she tried to sit on one of the chairs now, someone would put their feet or books on it and say it was taken. She stood by the window, sitting on the sill. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see James and Marc stroll into the room, plopping themselves on the seats right in front of her. She rolled her eyes and grabbed the small notepad she kept in the zipped pocket of her skirt, reviewing the things she'd need to study when she got home.
Ever since her text books had been stolen, all of her work books disappeared too. Either it was someone who stole it off her on her way to class or from her locker after school. Henry huffed angrily at the thought of it. Now she's forced to write various notes and page numbers on an itty bitty notepad.
The two boys smirked at her and turned to whisper to the guys behind them, Riley, John, and Max. Abruptly, Henry was aware of the chill that was breezing against her neck, although she wasn't sure if it was just because the window was open or the way the boys were looking at her. Suddenly, Max pushed her. She could feel herself tumbling back, her note pad and pen slipping from her hands. We're on the fucking third floor! I'm gonna die! A gasp rippled out of Henry's lips, her lungs tightening in fear. The air flew past her as she fell.
Unexpectedly, two hands firmly gripped her ankles. With the sudden jolt, it felt like every bone in her body was wrenched out of its socket. She sorely looked up to see John and Max grinning at her, their hands on her legs. Henry groaned, thankful that she was wearing her gym shorts under her skirt. Great, my stuff is gone and I have to go through class without complaints or looking like they seriously scared me, otherwise I'll be written off as an uptight bitch who doesn't know how to take a "joke".
Max, Marc, Riley, John, and James all sat down in their seats and pretended to be innocent as soon as Henry was pulled up back to safety. She felt her stomach swirl in anger and fear, the blood still rushing in her ears. She was just about to storm over to them and scream, when Mr Tane walked in. Letting out an enraged growl under her breath, she walked to the desk she usually sat at. Now that the teacher was here, everyone would stop taking her seat.
Everyone watched her as she slumped down in her chair, trying to calm herself down. In truth, she felt like she was going to end up crying, but she didn't want any of them to see that. Like she usually did when someone wrecked her nerves, she masked her face into one of indifference. Mr Tane cleared his throat and began the lesson.
