Water.

It's what surrounded me, and didn't leave me alone. 

It pruned my fingers, wetted my clothes, and seeped into my brain through my ears.

Currently, it was the only thing that surrounded me for miles.

I slowly lifted my head off the inflatable water chair that drifted me to nowhere.

After swimming with my family, I fell asleep when on the water chair. I can still hear their shouts from shore, as the current drifted me away from the shore. Their screams of agony, and the look on my mother's face as she mouthed the words that are burned into my brain:

Don't resist.

What does that mean? That agonizing question racked my brain for hours on end, or however long I was on the raft.

I was starving. And thirsty. The saltwater underneath me was not consumable, nor could it help me in anyway. 

If I could somehow grab one of the fish....I pondered. 

I quickly dismissed that thought, as soon as I saw a figure in the distance...
