Alive

I stood in awe as my dad streamed down a long, white carpet with people lining up to bow at him.

He's alive! Hope filled my entire body. If dad was alive, I could go home!

He looked like a king.

My dad had a long, orange cape slithering behind him like it wasn't even attached to his body. There was smoke emitting from behind him. Sparks flew from his cape, surrounding his head like a crown.

He hadn't spotted me yet, but if he did he showed no sign of doing so.

I flinched as confetti shot out of the wall, and stretched far enough to reach the opposite colors of the room. The walls and floors of the once plain white room exploded with colors and symbols.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around. A man with clothes the same colors as the walls and floors was standing behind me.

"Aden?" He questioned me, reading off of a small sheet of paper.

"Um, yes?" I answered, unsure if what would happen if I said no.

He bowed. "I am lieutenant Arma. I am here to escort you to King Mag."

"King Mag?" I questioned. It seemed like a confusing name for a king.

"Ah, yes," He replied with a smile on his face. "Mag; a name that represents power, dignity, and hope. A name to represent all. Well, at least from down here." Squinting into the distance, he checked his watch and wiggled his eyebrows. "If we don't want to be late, we better go now."

I turned to object about the lady with the blue shirt and the man with the green one, but they were already figures in the distance.

I started to speak, trying to figure the situation that I had gotten myself into. "Uh, I guess we-"

"Yes! We better go." He said interrupting me. He started walking at a fast pace. Why does everyone here walk fast? I questioned. As I followed Arma, I wondered if he had changed in the 4 years the had been 'dead'.

We were walking down the same looking hallway, with the same looking stone columns, but a different rug. This one was red. Did the other hallway have a rug? I questioned. I turned around and sure enough, the marble tile had nothing covering it. Maybe it symbolizes something, I thought. Dad's cape was red, maybe the carpet symbolizes something like his cape? I squinted at the carpet. Proving my theory, there was a trace of smoke emitting from the floor.

"Woah," I whispered. I guess Arma noticed it to, because he picked up the pace. Suddenly, the outside of the carpet burst into flames. I jumped back, waving the smoke out of my eyes. Aden, what would dad do? A voice had been asking me that a lot lately. I don't know who or what it was, but it was helping.

I quickly crouched to the floor, only to be nose to nose with a sphere object. I picked it up, and a armadillo jumped right out of my arms!

"What the-" I started, but was soon cut off by the armadillo who was speaking in in Arma's voice.

"Quick!"The armadillo said. "No time! Follow me!"

We army crawled for what seemed like miles. We then arrived at a white door that had red lining on it. Arma whispered something into a speaker in the ground. and the doors sprung open. My dad was sitting in a throne, literal smoke coming out of his ears.

"Finally," He huffed. All of the fire around us died. Arma turned back into a human.

"What is this place?" I shouted at the top of my lungs. "Im covered in ash, I was abducted by a spaceship, and there was an armadillo!"

Father waited for me to calm down before saying: "It is what makes this place so special."

"But what is this place?" I questioned.

"Oh, son," He said with a smile. "This is Magnesia."
