CHAPTER 1

IT wasn't supposed to be like this. To be perfectly honest, Hermione was meant to be the only one who applied for the job. But some twat down at the office had forgotten the important
part about not releasing the advert to the Muggles. And now she was sat in a waiting room, surrounded by a group of women. Hermione sighed. This wasn't supposed to happen. It was
meant to be her, and only her, so that she would get the job.

Quickly, she stood up and exited the room. She found her mobile phone in her bag and dialled his number. The phone was meant for emergencies only but Hermione was pretty sure that this counted as an emergency. He picked up on the 4th ring.

"Hermione? Where are you? Is everything okay?" Hermione smiled at how frantic he sounded.

"Well, not exactly," she answered. "There's a room full of other candidates because some twat down at the office didn't do their job properly." Ron muttered something under his breath-a name.

"Look, can't you just use magic to get the job?" It was the obvious thing to do but Hermione knew it wasn't right.

"I'm sorry, Ron, but I can't do that. If I get the job, I want it to be because I'm right for the role, and not that I can wave my wand and make it happen. Just tell the others that the mission might not go according to plan."

"Okay," he sounded disappointed. Hermione hated when he was disappointed. "I'll let the others know. Good luck. I love you."
"I love you, too."

RON put the receiver down and swore. Fucking Raymond. He had warned Harry about taking on an intern but Harry had still done it anyway, causing them to possibly fail their mission. He gathered his papers off of his desk and left the room. There was no point locking it: people always got in.

The meeting room was practically empty when Ron arrived. Harry and Neville were sat in their usual seats, deep in conversation. Ron took his seat and opened up his folder.

"Ron?" Ron sighed and shut the folder.

"What?"
"Have you heard from Hermione lately?" Ron felt a shot of anger surge through him. "As a matter of fact, I have."

"And?"

"Well, because you're intern didn't do his fucking job properly, Hermione might not get the job, so our mission will have failed." Harry was shocked at this sudden outburst. Ron rarely got angry like this and when he did, all Harry could do was get angry back.

"Oh yeah, because Raymond is all my responsibility. He's not just my intern, he's yours, too. In fact, I hired him for the whole office because the workload was too much for you to handle without acting like a complete dick!"

"At least half my dick isn't shoved in my personality!" Ron stood up. He pulled his wand out and aimed it at Harry. "Don't fucking act like this job hasn't changed you. I've seen Ginny. I know what you've done."

"Don't talk to me about Ginny. She has a part in this, too. You don't know what-" Ron had blasted Harry with a Stupefy. Harry stood up, contemplated using his wand before launching himself at Ron. They rolled around on the floor, both of them throwing punches.
Neville, unsure of what to do, ran out of the room. A few moments later, he returned with Kingsley Shacklebolt in tow. Kingsley rolled his eyes.

"Petrificus Totalus." The two men stopped fighting and found themselves trapped against one another.

"I don't know what has happened between you two, and frankly I don't care, but it needs to stop now. If not for the sake of your friendship, then for the sake of the Agency." He undid the
hex and left the room, telling them to wait a few minutes as the meeting was due to start.
