Hey! Back with Chapter 3 of 5! Warning: this one might make you want to cry. I'm so evil. This is a very evil chapter.
Winn suddenly felt very vulnerable kneeling on the floor, still shaking. Fear, loneliness, and emptiness mixed together inside of him. Winn felt totally out of control of his own self. His emotions clashed together all at once, rendering him unable to do anything but stay on the kitchen floor in submission to his mind with only the power to puzzle over what exactly he was feeling. It was a difficult task, trying to make sense of the internal confusion, especially with years of emotions and memories and feelings that had been pent up for so long now rushing like a waterfall into his already large pool of memories and feelings. His mind at that moment was worse than any nightmare it had conjured up in the past. This was real, and Winn couldn't face it alone. However, with a sinking heart, he realized that he didn't have anyone. No parents. No friends. Kara was all he had, and he'd ruined that when he confessed his feelings. Besides, she wouldn't want to talk to him anyway. Not after he'd been so rude to her earlier. She probably thought he hated her. She probably hated him herself.
Not knowing what else to do, Winn just sat on the floor in his confusion of emotions. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to get everything to stop, to leave him, to make himself numb, but it didn't work. After a while, it became overwhelming. Winn desperately needed to talk to someone. Kara was his only option. Slowly, Winn picked up his phone and sent a message to Kara: I'm so sorry about earlier today. Seriously. But I really need to talk. He prayed that it would work. Minutes ticked by. No answer. He tried again: It's kind of important. Kind of very important. Still, no answer. Winn's desperation increased. Please respond. It became rapid fire, a spam of messages. This is urgent. Nothing. Kara, please! Nothing. I've got to talk to you. Nothing. Getting desperate. Nothing. I really need you right now. Nothing. He even called her. Each time he was sent to voicemail, and each time he became closer to tears. Kara was his only chance. He needed her to respond. Why wouldn't she respond?

In a nice little restaurant in uptown National City, Kara Danvers sat at a table for two, laughing and smiling. She gazed at the person sitting across from her, Adam Foster, and it was like nothing else around them existed. It was just Kara, Adam, and a pair of dreamy eyes that she couldn't look away from.Kara didn't even notice her constantly buzzing phone sitting in her purse that was hung over the back of her chair.

Winn couldn't stand the ache inside him for someone to talk to. The loneliness was becoming hard to bear. He had to get to Kara, and if he couldn't contact her via cell phone, he'd have to walk up to her apartment himself. He couldn't just sit in his kitchen for any longer. Winn got up, threw open his apartment door, and started the trek to Kara's apartment. He didn't particularly like being outside at night. There was a part of his mind that was convinced he'd find something Toyman-related at each corner. It was that part of his mind which made him turn the corners cautiously. It also didn't help that thunder rolled across the sky, warning Winn of an imminent heavy rainfall. He quickened his pace, hoping to get to Kara's before the impending storm caught up with him.
Winn kept that quick pace until he'd nearly reached Kara's apartment building, when he stopped in his tracks with only a crosswalk left to go. His anxiety suddenly increased greatly. He didn't know if he could face Kara and verbalize his mess of feelings. However, walking up to the building from another street was a familiar and comforting face. Kara. He'd gotten there just in time! A wave of relief washed over Winn as he began to jog over to Kara. He was about to call her name when he noticed something that caused him to stop. Kara was laughing and conversing with someone, but Winn couldn't make out who. Kara and her companion reached the building, and it was then that Winn saw who she was with. Adam. Cat Grant's son. The boy who visited the office that day. The boy who Kara had seemed to take a liking to.
He wasn't angry with her for having feelings for someone else, of course. It'd be ridiculous to be angry with someone over their feelings. If Kara had a guy with her, though, Winn wouldn't be able to talk to her. No one but Kara could hear the heavy problems that Winn was bearing. It was too personal. His heart sank. Just as he was about to leave, Winn saw Kara and Adam stop walking and talk to each other. He thought that Adam might be leaving, so he waited, trying his hardest to be patient.
And then something happened that made Winn's entire world slow to a stop.
Adam leaned in towards Kara, and he kissed her. Winn's whole body became tense. Perhaps what hurt the most is that, instead of pulling away, shocked, Kara hung her arms around Adam's neck and kissed him back. Winn shouldn't have cared. He knew that Kara wasn't interested in him. Still, everything around him seemed to fade into the background. He found it hard to breathe. A numbness set in. Thunder rumbled again, but he barely heard it. The only things Winn was aware of were the tears springing to his eyes, his heart pounding in his ears, and the fate-sealing kiss that unfolded before him. It seemed to last an entire painful lifetime, and yet he couldn't look away or even bring himself to move. Finally, they pulled apart, thus pulling Winn out of his numb state. Reality hit him full-force, all of his emotions creating an ache in his chest.
It was then that the rain began to fall. It wasted no time in escalating from a drizzle to a downpour. Kara shrieked and laughed at the surprise of the torrent. Adam hastily took his jacket off and held it above himself and Kara for protection as they rushed inside, wearing bright smiles in despite of the weather and with Kara clutching Adam's arm.
For a minute or two, Winn couldn't bring himself to do anything but continue to stand in the middle of the torrent, the rain stinging his face. He was drenched in no more than thirty seconds, but he made no move to escape the rain. Finally, Winn turned around and began the walk back home, feeling emotionally drained. As the cold of the rain seeped through his soaking wet clothes, the only thing left for Winn to feel was sadness. And so, he slowly made his way back to his apartment, his tears mixing with the raindrops.I feel the need to apologize again. I'm sorry. Why am I being so mean to Winn with this fic? *cries*
