Toby stop the car in front of a big gate, four man stood with guns as watch. One of the guard came toward the driver seat. I felt nervous, the man looked at me then at Toby surprise. The guard all have matching uniforms on.
"Oh, Mr. Styles! We weren't expect you today. Sorry for keeping you." The guard up his hand up, and the guard by the gate opened it. "I'm truly sorry sir." Toby looked at the man then back to the road. Toby didn't say anything to the guard, he just drove off. The guard closed the gate behind us. Toby speed up and and he stopped in front of a warehouse. The warehouse look like it was new and it was big it was as long as football field and wide as five school buses.
Toby opened the door and said to me, "No more lies." I walked in first, Toby followed behind me. Guns. There where guns everywhere. I'm not a big fan of gun. Guns kill. "I'm in charge for these guns. You know I make sure that all my man, that all have good working guns when they're out in the streets. We don't kill unless it absolutely necessary." I looked back at him in awe.
"You watch over all these guns by yourself. When did you start?" I touched one of the guns it was cold and hard, I picked it up and it was heavy.
"Freshman year of high school." He watch me as I put the gun back down where I pick it up. "You want to see my office?" He eyes wonder around the warehouse.
"Yeah." He directed me to a room in the middle of the warehouse, he opened the door and his office was plain. He had a computer, desk, bookshelf and a roller chair. I sat on his roller chair, he desk and chair were positioned so he was in front of a black out one-sided window. He could see everything. On his desk he had a calendar, a clock, a cup filled with pens, pencils, and highlighters, a picture of me smiling while holding James, Toby's all America bulldog, and other pictures of his family and I at the beach. I pick up the picture and smiled at it then placed back where I found it. I got up from the chair, and walked toward the window.
"It's bulletproof ", Toby said pointing to the window. I smiled at the thought of some trying to shoot at him was he worked. I wonder if someone already tried. "Why are you smile?"
"Oh, nothing" I covered my smile. I am a horrible best friend. "So, I'm hungry", he looked at me and he nodded his head. He reached out for my hand, looked down at it and I placed my hand in his. His hand was tanned and big as my hand was pale and small next to his. He lead me to the car, he opened the door for me then closed it. He zipped passed the guards, then back on to the highway, with the window down.
"So, do the police know?" I finally asked.
"Do they know what?" He toke his eyes off the road of a second.
"You know that you have a warehouse full of guns, and you being, you know, a criminal?" I looked at he grip the stirring wheel tight when I called him a criminal. He loose his grip and smiled.
"Are you kidding, you're corrupt." The police are corrupt. You got to be shitting me. I laid my head back and I shut my eyes Toby closed the windows and put the air on. The noise the air conditioning made free weird. Toby and I sat in his car in silence as he drove and I slept.
When I woke we were in his driveway. He was play candy crush. The car was parked. "Hey do you remember that hair you got in six grade?" He laughs holding his phone up to my face. Are kidding me he had it as his background. That hair cut was the most embarrassing thing ever.
"Where did you get that picture of me?"
"Facebook." Of course that is were all the pictures you don't want other people to see end up. "Can we go inside now, I have been waiting for you to wake up for twenty minutes."
"What, really, why didn't you wake me up." He shrugged his shoulders. He turned off the car and put his phone in his pocket. Damn it I got drool on my shirt. Toby opened me door.
We walked to his front door and he unlock the doors. He stopped and said, "I'm so sorry"
"Why?"
