We Both Felt this Pain

Chapter 2: Under the Oak Tree

Lloyd's POV
Well, like Zane told me, I finally decided to get out of my dark room and head downstairs. I hadn't seen the sunlight in a few days, to the bright light was something to get used to as I made my way downstairs. The wooden floor creaked as I walked on it with my bare feet. I made my way into the kitchen and I saw my mom, Misako, Kai, Jay, Cole, Nya and Sensei Wu all sitting at the table. They all turned around and looked at me.
"H-Hi, guys" I said shyly, waving slightly. Huge smiles suddenly crossed their faces.
"Lloyd!" they all exclaimed as they all got up to see me. They all gave me a huge bear hug. I wasn't expecting this much attention.
"Good to see you again, Lloyd!" Nya said.
"Yeah. We were worried sick about you. You feeling alright?" Kai asked.
"Yeah, I'm good now. Besides, it was about time I got out of that room" I said.
"Yeah! Honestly, Lloyd, I was worried you might be dead or something" Jay said. I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Jay!" Cole yelled as he punched Jay in the shoulder.
"Hey! Ow, that hurt!!" Jay exclaimed, glaring at Cole.
"Don't say things like that, Zaptrap!" Cole yelled. I let out a little chuckle. I missed Jay and Cole little fights. They always make me laugh.
"Well, at least you're doing alright. I'm glad you're here" Misako said as she hugged me again. I didn't say anything, by smiled, enjoying the hug.
"Hey, where's Zane?" I asked.
"He's in the kitchen, getting breakfast ready. Hey, Zane! Get out here!" Kai yelled. A few moments later Zane came out of the kitchen.
"Hi, Lloyd. Good to see you up and about" he said, smiling.
"Hey, I wouldn't be out here if it wasn't for you, so, thanks" I said.
"Yeah. Whatever you did, Zane, it worked. What did you do anyway?" Jay asked. Zane grinned at me.
"I have my ways" was all he said. I smiled and sudden felt my cheeks get warm. Soon after, Zane finished breakfast, we all ate. After, Kai, Jay, Cole and Zane did training. They said I didn't have to train, so I decided to go for a little walk outside.
It was in the middle of September, so the fall wind whipped passed my face, sending a chill down my spine.
I looked over at a large oak tree on the top of a hill and was surprised to see Zane sitting against it. He was wearing is usual white hoodie with black pants, along with a light blue scarf wrapped around his neck. He was reading a book, not seeming to be bothered by the cold at all. I quickly walked over to the tree.
"Z-Zane?" I said. He looked up from his book. He raised his eyebrows in suprise.
"Lloyd, I didn't know you'd be here. What's up?" Zane asked, smiling.
"Oh, just out for a little walk. You finished training already?" I asked.
"Yeah. Sensei ended session early today. Don't know why. Kai, Jay and Cole are playing video games, if you were wondering" the nindroid replied.
"Um, if you don't mind me asking" I started, "why are you out here by yourself?"
"I don't know. I usually come here when I need to be alone. I usually just read when I'm up here. It's just so quiet and....peaceful" Zane said. Suddenly, I felt guilty about disturbing him.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to disturb you! I can leave if you want!" I exclaimed.
"No, no, it's okay, Lloyd. You can stay if you want" the nindroid said.
"Well, i-if that's the case, then.....can I sit down?" I asked.
"Sure. Of course" Zane said simply. Then I sat down next to him. The wind had suddenly picked up, and tried my best to keep warm. Dang it, I should've worn something warmer. Then, Zane unexpectedly took off his scarf and wrapped it around my neck. I was suprised.
"I noticed that you were cold, so I hope this helps a little" Zane said, ajusting the light blue scarf a little bit.
"It does. T-Thank you" I said, covering up my face with the scarf.
"Zane?" I said again.
"Yes, Lloyd?" he replied, grinning at me.
"Thank you. I would've still be in my room alone if it wasn't for you, so.....thanks" I said. Zane let out a little chuckle, which caught me a little by surprise.
"Of course, Lloyd. I'd do anything for family" he said. I smiled.
A few hours passed and all we did was talk and talk. Suddenly, while Zane was in the middle of talking, I began to feel tired and my eyes could barely stay open. So, I leaned my head against Zane's shoulder, moving in closer to him. I could tell that he was blushing, because I could feel the heat coming off his cheeks.
"Pleasant dreams, Lloyd" Zane said, wrapping the scarf around me more. The last thing I did was smile before sleep overwhelmed me and I drifted off.
