"Yeah I'm fine..." I say quickly and get up. I open the door to reveal my two friends standing there.
"But we heard a thud...." Tyde says.
"It was probably your imagination... Remember that one time you thought you saw a giant clown but it was actually a squirrel?"
Kenzie and Tyde shared a laugh.
"Now, let's go to the movies..." I take one last look at the mirror before we head off. Nothing seemed different about it.While at the movies, I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened.
"Avery?"
"Oh what?" I say.
"I called your name ten times and you didn't respond..." Kenzie says.
"I was paying attention to the movie..." I say.
"You were staring at the ground..." Tyde replies.
"Oh... Well what were you gonna say?"
"I was gonna say," Kenzie starts. "What happened earlier today with the whole bathroom situation?"
I paused. "Uh nothing... I thought I told you it was just your imagination..." I say.
"Avery, you're such a wuss..." Kenzie says and lightly pushes me.
Everybody shushed us.I got home late that night. I gave my friends hugs before they left.
I run into the bathroom to see my mirror again. I touch the mirror in hopes that the same thing happened again, and I wasn't losing my mind earlier.
Nothing.
I sigh, but just as I take my hand off, it happens.
I get pulled into the mirror. "Ow..." I get up and look around. Everything was the same, but backwards.
I keep looking around until I see someone who looks exactly like me. My reflection. I scream and back away. "What are...where...What is this??" I shout.
The girl that is supposedly me runs out of the bathroom.
"WAIT!" I say and run after her.
It's hard to run in a house when everything's backwards. I soon lose her, and then I realize that I've wounded in my room.
I look around. All the books on my nightstand have words written backwards.
One book catches my eye. One that is written forward. I pick up the book from in between the stack and look at it in confusion.
If everything else is backwards, why isn't this? I try to open the book. It doesn't open. I see a lock on the side of it that has words that are difficult to read engraved in it.
"What do you think you're doing here?!" I here.
I look up from the book.
