"M-Mom?" I say, looking at the recognizable figure standing at the doorway. "What're you doing here?"
My mom takes the book from my hands and then goes to slap me.I wake up in a pool of sweat. Had it all been a dream? My heart was beating out of my chest.
I get out of my bed and walks down the stairs to see my mom making eggs. "Hi, mom..." I say.
My mom looks at me. "Hey, sweetie..."
I sit at the kitchen table and put my hands on my face to wake myself up. "I just had the weirdest dream that I was going through the mirror in the upstairs bathroom..."
"That's weird... Ya know, you also said you had dreams about that when you were younger... Five, maybe?" My mom explains.
"Really?" I ask. "It seemed... Really real... Like really real..."
"Must've been a vivid dream then..." I hear my mom laugh while putting a plate of bacon in the microwave.
I look at the clock on the oven. "It's already 6:30? I should get changed..."
"The bus comes at 7. You should..." My mom replies with.
I run back up the stairs and get out a pink shirt and blue jeans. I get changed and head back down the stairs. I notice my mom has already finished making breakfast and is sitting at the kitchen table eating.
I take half a plate of eggs and two pieces of bacon. "This looks amazing mom. Thanks..." I eat the bacon and most of the egg, giving the rest to my mom.
I brush my hair and put on my deep purple book bag. "I'm ready to leave..."
"Did you put your contacts in yet?" My mom asks.
I groan.
"Go put them on. I don't want you to get a bad grade because you couldn't take notes from the front board..."
I take off my book bag and run up the stairs and quickly put in my contacts and run back down. "There, mom..."
"I love you!" My mom says before I run out the door with my book bag and to the bus.I arrive to school and immediately walk to Kenzie's locker. "Hi!" I say.
"Hey... Did you like the movie we watched yesterday?" Kenzie asks.
It was real? I look at Kenzie.
"Avery?" I hear Kenzie say.
"What... Oh yeah.... Loved it..." I say.
Kenzie has a concerned look on her face. I give her a fake smile to tell her that I'm okay.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Tyde running over. She jumps on top of me into a hug.
"Tyde what're you doing??" I say, trying to get her off of me.
"Hugging you..." Tyde says.
"You're suffocating me is what you're doing..."
"Oop. Sorry..." Tyde lets go of me.
The bell rings.
"Oh come on! I didn't even go to my locker!" I say and run to my locker as quick as I can.
This isn't the first time I was late to my class. I've been late so many times before, and each time I'd have to go back to the high school office, get a yellow piece of paper, and walk back. I didn't get that because it's a waste of trees and time.
I walk into class, and luckily my teacher never noticed I walked in, so I was off the hook basically.
A few girls look at me.
"Where were you?" One of them whispers.
I shrug because I don't like talking in the middle of class.
At the end of the class, I take a bathroom break and look in the mirror after washing my hands.
Maybe it will work in school...
