The cabin in the woods chapter 7
2 groups

Previously on Cabin in the woods:

His eyes color grew a deeper shade of dark violet, Mai's eyes widened but she nodded a okay. Naru sighed when she calmed down he was just as worried about everyone else, but those thoughts would come later when they were safe.

Normal POV :

Monk looked around from the Cabin window, everyone had made it back except Mai and Naru. He growled frustration, not being able to go look for them was killing him. It was killing everyone.

Luella was crying next to Martin still, and no one had gotten any sleep because the thing showed up and tried to attack them. It was too dangerous to do anything.

"I'm going to go look for them I can't stand not knowing if they are okay!!!" Monk said walking to the door.

"Wait if you go we all go it's better if everyone could stay together." Martin said.

Before the group set out they gathered all the need supplies and anything they would need later on. Monk lead the way out into the surrounding forest as the others quietly followed.

After walking around Monk stopped short and the group ran into each other he ripped something off of the branch of the shrub. It was a piece of fabric from Mai's shirt that she borrowed from Naru. It was covered in blood, Monk looked up and noticed the footprints and broken branches.

"Hey I found something!" He said handing the cloth back.

"Isn't that part of Naru's shirt Mai was wearing?" Madoka asked worriedly.

"Yeah and the a path that we can track, we should follow it..." Monk said walking forward.

After traveling on the group came to a halt as the trail ended by a rushing river rapid. "You don't think..." someone whispered the thought that ran through each other's minds.

"Where does this river lead?"John asked steadying Masako.

Yasu pulled out the map and looked at it he frowned, "this map doesn't really have this river here..." he said looking at them again.

"What do you mean? Is this really uncharted?" Ayako asked.

Yasu nodded an answer to her question, "What do you mean? maybe your looking at it wrong.." Monk said stalking to the young college man.

"Let's hope I am because if not then this map is of no help to use..." he said giving it to Monk.

Monk stared at it frustratingly then slapped it into Lin's arm, who glared at him then looked at the map.

Lin sighed, "Yasuhara is right... this river isn't on the map.."

"Then what are we supposed to do now?!" Monk asked to anyone willing to answer the question.

The group stayed silent, "I guess we should follow it.." Monk said walking the same direction of the waters flow.

WITH MAI AND NARU

The two kept running anywhere they could, the creature was only toying with them at this point. Mai and Naru ran into a clearing surrounded by dead trees and orange leaves.

Mai stopped for a moment till she changed her direction running another way, "Mai! Where are you going!" Naru yelled turning around running towards her.

"This way!!! A little boy says he can show us where we can be safe!" Mai yelled from up the hill she was on.

Naru frowned but put his trust into Mai, so far she had been right so he might as well trust her in this case. He stopped when she stopped, she nodded to no one and turned to her left there was a large oak tree with overgrown vines hanging on it. She walked to the tree and pulled the vines out of the way.

Behind the vines was an empty space where the roots were exposed from decades of erosion. Mai walked in and Naru followed, the inside was large and warm. Mai dropped to her butt and leaned against the roots trying to calm down, she was rattling like a leaf.

Naru did the same trying to rest a little, the sound of faint droplets could be heard outside their little safety spot. The rain had come back, hopefully the creature known as slender, wouldn't.

Naru thought about everything that was going on, then something important crossed his train of thought. "the only time it rains... the beast doesn't come out after us..." he whispered to himself.

He looked back at Mai's sleeping form focusing on her injured arm, it was also looking better, a lot actually. He sighed in relief at all the positives of their situation started to reveal themselves.

'Gene.... Gene? Are you there?.... Gene!... can you hear me?' Naru yelled in his head trying to get in contact with his deceased twin brother.

Nothing. He could get nothing, normally Gene was always there, but this time he wasn't. Naru sighed, now what were they going to do? They have to find their way back to the cabin but how? With that creature chasing them, and the ghost wanting her to collect things, that was almost next to impossible.

Naru closed his eyes pinching the bridge of his nose, he scooted next to Mai and wrapped his arms protectively around her. She stopped shivering and snuggled into his warmth. He stared at the girl in his arms, we're they even going to make it out alive?

"Mai," he said to the sleeping girl, she only laid there unresponsive. "If we don't make it out alive, there are many things I want to tell you... I will do everything in my power to get at least you out alive." he promised her tightening his hold on her.

"I love you..."
