When everything goes wrong, it sometimes seems like it's the end of the world. Even when it's not. Although, there are a few exceptions to when it actually is the end of the world.

Like, for example, today.

Some people used to call it Doomsday, others 'The Day That Donald Trump Decided To Run For President". Me, I just call it June 17th.

I know, I know. There's been lots of times when scientists predicted that a meteor would strike the Earth and blast us into tiny particles. But today is the real deal.

Unless....little old me stops it. Funny, yeah, I've laughed about it too. Although, it's not so funny when you're standing in front of an Eiffel Tower sized god that would find it hilarious to try shoving a lamp pole up your behind, and you're attempting to make peace.

I really wish this was a joke.

How about we backtrack to 10 days ago, after my soccer practice.

June 10th

"Hey, Janine! Throw your water bottle over here, will you?"

I finish taking a gulp, then toss the water to Alex. He smiles, and swallows the remaining mouthfuls.

"So are you going to the dance tonight? Kent's supposed to be there." Alex grins like an idiot and lightly punches me in the arm.

"I don't know yet. I mean, I have a bunch of homework to catch up on." I sigh.

"You might want to decide before 7, seeing as how you take forever to get ready and doors close at 8:30."

"I know, I know." I zip my backpack up and wipe my forehead. "Please tell me you've asked Gina. I heard she'd been waiting for a certain someone."

Alex hangs his head. "She said that she's happy that I asked, but she wished I had asked sooner because she's going to have a hard time finding a tie for me that matches the colour of her dress."

"You should've listened to me, you chicken." I ruffle his blond hair, knowing that it irritates him. He shakes his head, fixing it.

"Whatever, she still said yes. Which might I mention, that's more than I can say for you."

"Girls don't ask guys, it's an old fashioned thing." I defend myself. "Plus, he wouldn't say yes anyways."

"Why not?"

"Just...because."

"I like that reason. Very descriptive."

I scrunch my nose. "Oh shut up. I'll see you at the dance, loser."

Alex pumps the air with his fist, as I say goodbye to him and our teammates.
