"Finley travelled for years through calm countrysides and dark forests, busy towns and plains that stretched for miles. He enjoyed the heavy rain, and discovered that snow was hell. He met many people, and picked up quick jobs for a bit of coin to spend on food for the road. He settled in homes for only a short while before being on his way, and used the name Ciel to make sure nobody recognized him."
"Ciel?"
"It means sky in Hunrish. Finley absolutely loved the sky, especially during a clear night when the constellations were visible. He thought of nighttime as relaxing, and found peace in the silence." Lena sighs.
"Anyway, he met a young girl while visiting Dunram. She was quite the sight, and intelligent too. Finley was enthralled by her grace, and found himself picking up job after job in this village. He didn't want to leave her behind, so one day he decided to talk to her while she was fetching water alone."
"Was she afraid of him?"
"No, he had such an air of friendliness that she trusted him. After having a pleasant conversation, he learned her name was Anne, and they decided to meet every afternoon for dinner. A month passed, and they had developed quite the bond. They did everything together, and rumour had it that Finley had plans to marry her. The rumours were not wrong. It wasn't long after that Finley asked Anne's father for his blessing, and received it. The wedding was planned, vows were said, and they were happily tied. Anne had two girls, Charlotte and Lacey, and the couple raised them well. And, well...the family chain continues from there."
"What was the point of the story?"
"To tell you about your history. You see, you're part of the family chain. You're....royalty, if you'd like to call it that. And you're the last."
"Neither of my parents are royalty, so that's impossible. You're also trying to tell me that all these fantastic creatures are real. I can't believe you."
"It's your mother's side, and obviously they're real because here I am."
I hesitate, attempting to think of something. "But...why hasn't anyone told me?"
"To keep you safe. Your mother wasn't meant for the throne, you are. Which is why I had to wait until now."
