Chapter 10
Harry's POV
It was almost the end of my shift already. The place was pretty much empty with one remaining couple sitting over in the poorly lightened corner of the restaurant. Everyone had left before me so I was the only one working there, but I could handle this last table. I was hoping that they would hurry up and get out of here so I could go home and get my sleep but they seemed to be having a nice night so I wasn't going to annoy them. They were holding each others hands on the table just laughing at everything they said to one another; The girl wouldn't stop smiling and neither would he.I sat at a table on the other side with my phone in my lap all by myself. Memories of my last relationship started appearing in my head. No.. fuck. Not right now. Not at work. I'm not going to let this come back to me. It's all over now and she's not in my life anymore. I tried to overcome these thoughts of her but they kept coming back; But something was different this time. As painful I thought these memories of the past would be.. they weren't affecting me as much. I didn't feel upset, and I didn't feel bad about anything that happened. I felt okay for once. I looked over at the couple again to see what they were doing now and I saw them quietly speaking to each other. She'd smile after every sentence he said to her and he was tightly holding her hand in his. They seemed so happy to be with each other. The way he would look into her eyes and how he would admire every single word that came out of her mouth. My relationships were never like that. I might have dated a few girls in my past but it was never like that. There was always something missing. I couldn't exactly figure out what it was at the time and to this day I still don't know. I was happy of course, and they would be too but.. I just don't really know. It never seemed right to me.
I felt myself starting to doze off little by little but I couldn't leave. It felt like torture sitting there just waiting on one fucking table. They saw me chilling out over here but I'm guessing that they didn't get the message yet. I just scrolled down my twitter page looking at people's tweets from the party that was going on by the house.. seeing how much fun they were having while I was stuck here doing nothing. I think that's why Liam left a little early tonight. Ashton was telling me before he hurried out of here that he was going with a few other lads that I know but that could've been anybody. I wanted to get out of these work clothes so bad; I was just so uncomfortable. During the night I usually just wear sweats or shorts, or perhaps nothing.. it usually depends. But I wanted to get out of them as soon as possible. I tried to think of something that I could just throw on but what could I possibly find to wear in a restaurant? I slid my phone into the back pocket of my jeans and stood up. I stretched my arms out to the side and let out a loud yawn that barely caught the couple's attention and just quietly made my way to the back room to look for something. As soon as I pushed the heavy wooden doors open I saw a bag over on the counter by the back exit; It looked quite familiar so I walked over to it and soon noticed that it was Liam's. I remembered that he had brought clothes with him to work in that bag one day and I quickly unzipped the black fabric and in there I saw nothing but a white wrinkled t-shirt and a blue beanie that he had never worn before. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind if I just borrowed his clothes for a night.. pretty sure. Well he'll just have to deal with it anyway.
I quickly left the kitchen with the bag tightly in my hands anxious to change and ofcourse the couple is still having their lovey-dovey shit over there on the opposite side. The bathroom was near the back so I wouldn't have to look at them for long. My face started to become red when I saw him lean over the table to kiss the woman on the opposite side of the table from him. They seemed like a married couple but I didn't see a ring on neither of their fingers. So many questions started racing through my mind as I watched them. How long have they been together? Why are they so happy? Did they ever fight? Why is she laughing? Why is he smiling everytime she whispers something in his ear? I shook my head trying to snap back into reality and grabbed the handle to enter the bathroom and locked the door behind me. The lights in the bathroom were dim but my eyes began to water as they were trying to adjust and I glanced over at reflexion in the mirror placed over the poorly cleaned sink. My god. I didn't realize I looked this tired. My eyes are bloodshot and my curls are swooping in different directions; My shirt has little stains on it from the sauce I had spilled by accident while filling out orders.. and little shadows were forming under my eyes. I turned on the faucet and ran my hands under the hot water trying to warm myself up and splashed a bit on my face to wake me up a little. I opened up the bag and took out the blue beanie that had been in there and slipped it on the back of my head to keep my hair out of my way. The white t-shirt was wrinkled and it was a little big for me but it was the only option I really had; I lifted my shirt over my head, threw it in the bag and put on the white one that was there. It was honestly such a relief now that I was comfortable and I felt a little less grumpy now. I'd probably be waiting another 15 minutes for the couple to leave so I wasn't in much of a rush to leave the bathroom.
My phone started vibrating in my back pocket so I took it out and viewed the messages. There were 2 text messages and 1 missed call from Louis.
