Chapter Two
The warm wind blew as Cheryl was waiting for her answer. "This is so hard. In order to be with the one I love, I have to betray someone who's always been there for me." Kimberley whispered as the difficulty of making the decision nearly broke her in to tears. "Do you think this is easy for me? I'm breaking someone's heart here. A good heart. I mean, I do love him but what I feel for you is just so much stronger and I need it more than anything else." Cheryl replied as she still held Kim strongly.
The long silence was broken by Kimberley's soft voice. "I need it too." She said. "Was that the answer to my question?" Asked Cheryl, full of hope. "Yes it was." Kim replied. "Thank you Kimberbabe." Said Cheryl sincerely as she put her head on Kim's shoulder. Kimberley moved her head and Cheryl followed her lead. Just a fraction of a second before their lips would touch, Cheryl pulled away. "This reminds me of that scene in 'Titanic'." She said innocenlty. "Yeah only if we fall over the edge, we wont be swimming with the fishes." Replied Kimberley as she moved her head the extra length to kiss Cheryl.
In a few seconds, Cheryl pulled away again. "How ironic is that? You once joked about being my secret lover and now you actually are it." She smartly declared. "If you keep that up, I will be your secret lover who slaps you." Kimberley replied, not amused by Cheryl's constant pulling away. "I think I prefer the first one." Cheryl said with a thoughtful face. And then, without any warning, a bird relieved itself on Cheryl. Kimberley was struggling with stomach cramps as Cheryl cursed the bird. "Maybe we should go inside." Giggled Kim. "Maybe we should." Replied Cheryl, still furious.
As the girls made their way inside, they noticed a familar and at the moment, unwelcomed face. "Holy crap! It's Josh! Go back!!" Urged Kim as she shoved Cheryl up the stairs again. "Wait, why can't he see us together?" Asked Cheryl as she was stumbling up the stairs. "The roof is our special place and if he sees us leaving here together, he'll know something is up. Now move!" Whispered Kim, shoving Cheryl more. "Now what?" Asked Cheryl as she reached the roof. "We need to think of something!" Kimberley panicked. "Well unless you don't want a bit altered Thelma and Louise ending, I got nothing." Said Cheryl, looking over the edge of the roof. "Get away from there!" Kim shouted as she pulled Cheryl to safe distance.
As the door opened, Kim made a giant leap which allowed her to hide behind the door without Josh noticing her. "Cheryl, what are you doing here?" Asked Josh, letting the door close behind him. "I was.... birdwatching! Yes! That was exactly what I was doing!" Cheryl replied loudly. "I take it that the birds like their privacy?" Asked Josh as he pointed out the white stain on Cheryl's jacket. "Yep, they sure do. The bastards!" Cheryl replied.
Meanwhile, Kim tried to make her escape, but Josh had put the lock on so whoever closed it, would need a key to open it again. Cheryl tried to figure out a way to distract Josh while Kimberley was hassling the door. "So... Hows Buster?" She asked as she couldn't think of anything else. "He's good." Replied Josh with suspicion. He noticed Cheryl peeking behind him so he turned around to look. Before he could see anything, Cheryl stongly hugged him. "You smell nice." Cheryl whispered. "You smell nice too?" Josh replied as he had no idea what he should say. Josh could feel Cheryl frantically waving her hands behind his back so he grabbed her shoulders.
"What is going on?" He asked seriously. "Nothing!" Shouted Cheryl before Josh could even finish his question. "I could feel you waving your arms, Cheryl." Josh pointed out. "I... got... gas." Cheryl replied, not even beliving she had said it. "You got gas? That's why you were waving your arms?" Josh asked in disbelief. "Yes! I was waving my hands so the gas would come out!" Cheryl said like it wasn't even a lie as she tried to force out a fart. "You see? No results. Need more moving." She continued as she started waving her hands while jumping up and down. Josh walked up to Cheryl and held her. "We're going home now." He said quietly.
"Yes! Going home!!" Cheryl shouted for Kim to hear, not realizing she had deafned Josh in the process. "God damn it." Swore Josh as he held his ear. "I'm sorry! Let's go now." Said Cheryl as Kim had hidden herself. Josh opened the door with his key and locked it after the pair were inside. In the lobby, Cheryl remembered she had forgotten something. "Damn!" She shouted. "What?" Asked Josh, "I forgot to... say goodbye to the birds..." Cheryl mumbled. Josh, knowing Cheryl was a bit childish, made no big deal out of it. "I'll wait in the car." He said as he walked out.
Cheryl ran up the stairs and opened the roof door to find a cross-armed Kimberley waiting. "You smell nice????" She said angrily. "Was that a statement or a question? Cause if that was a question , I'd have to sniff myself." Cheryl blabbered. "What the hell were you thinking? We're you trying to get us caught??" Kimberley fumed. "Oh you meant that." Cheryl replied as she finally caught on to what Kim had meant before. And angry silence was in the air. "Maybe we should go inside." Said Cheryl, leading the way.
