After a few moments of contemplation, I took a deep breath and walked down the porch steps towards Sydney's house. A few moments later, I found myself standing in front of her door, my fist raised in the knocking position. I stopped, staring at the door. "What do I say...? Why did I even come here?" I thought, mentally scolding myself and knocking on the door a few times. The next thing I know, I'm looking down at her speechless. I lowered my hand slowly, lost in those deep hazel eyes and hypnotized by her overall beauty. Her long brown, wavy hair cascaded down over her shoulders, slightly blowing in the wind from the open door. No make-up covered her naturally magnificent features; her lips were a light pink that matched the slight blush that had begun to appear upon her cheeks. Her skin, light but with a hint of a tan, was completely flawless; not a single blemish was visible. She was just... Enchanting.
I knew that my mouth must have been slightly open as I gazed down at her in utter amazement, and though the voice in the back of my mind was screaming at me to snap out of my trance, I couldn't. "U-Um... Hi, Aaron?" She said, and I finally snapped back into reality at her words. "Oh! U-Uh... Hey, Sydney!" I stuttered out, caught off guard and embarrassed by my behavior. "What's up?" She smiled a bit awkwardly, rubbing an arm. "Not much... Do you need something?" I shook my head, looking to the side. "No, actually, I was kind of wondering if you... Maybe wanted to..." I began, but choked on my words. Sydney just stared up at me in confusion, tilting her head to the side, which caused me to become even more nervous. I took another deep breath before I began again. "I was just wondering if you would like to... Maybe... Go to dinner with me or something sometime? Y'know, to get to know each other better and... Stuff." I watched the surprise spread across her face, and prepared myself for the rejection that was to come. She was quiet for a moment, looking at the ground and biting her lip lightly as she considered my offer. After a short period of silence, she looked back up at me with a smile. "Sure, Aaron. I'd like that." My eyes widened, shocked by her answer. She had actually said yes! I grinned. "Really...? Great! When's a good day for you?" I asked. She thought for a moment, tapping her chin. "Hm... Well, I'm available for tomorrow, if you'd like." I nodded. "That'll work. I'll pick you up around... 7:00pm?"
After a few more minutes of planning and lighthearted conversation, we said our goodbyes and I headed back to my house. I spent the rest of the night trying to find the best restaurant in our area, and then finally collapsed on my bed. I smiled sleepily to myself as I began to drift off with Sydney on my mind.
