Chapter 5 - No Touchy

"Um, mom, how are we all going to fit in the car? And how’s dad ?"

"Oh, I drove a van here. Your dad is in coma." Clarissa choked out the last part and tears started to form in her eyes.

Before she could cry, Kahlan quickly comforted her.

“ Mum, dad would be alright. He is strong. We must trust him to pulled it through.” Kahlan said while hugging my mum tight, struggling to stop my tears from falling.

Clarissa drove them from the airport to the pack house. They reached the pack house within 30 minutes. When they reached the pack house, Clarissa parked the van in the driveway and they all gets out of the vehicle. Clarissa lead them to the front door and pushed it open.

The moment everyone heard the front door open, they all froze. Claire is the first one to unfroze and ran to Kahlan and hug her. Seeing that someone came close to Kahlan made Kahlan's pack members growl and causing Claire to look at them.

"Who are they ?" Claire asked.

"Erm. I will tell you guys later after I talked to alpha Sirian" Kahlan said nervously, rubbing her neck. 

"Ok... I can't believe you are right in front of me. I thought you left me for good. Geez... Please don't do this to me again. I don't want to lose you as a bestie for the second time." Claire said while hugging Kahlan tightly, causing Kahlan's pack to growl again.

"Erm Claire, can't breathe"

"Oh sorry"

After Claire released Kahlan, she turned to her pack and said " It's okay guys, she is my best friend. and remember what I said about being friendly ?"

Kahlan's pack nodded and said," Yes Kale."

Kahlan thought they was going to say alpha, scaring her, making her heart beat faster but after hearing them say Kale, her heart went downhill to its normal rhythm and she sighed in relief. Kahlan don't want any of her old pack too know that she is an alpha... yet. Ya, They can smell it but Kahlan was crossing her fingers at least until she speak with alpha Sirian.

Kahlan turned back to Claire and hugged her and said " Ya, I miss you too."

That's when Kahlan smell it and her wolf went crazy, screaming in her mind, " MATE".

Kahlan looked up to her right to the stairs and Claire followed her gaze.

" What do you want ?" Claire said calmly but glaring at him.

Ryder looks at her and then looks at Kahlan and the both of them stared at each other for a long time until Kahlan felt someone tug on her sleeve. She immediately break away from the trance and turned to the person who tugged her sleeve. Kahlan can't help but thank the person mentally for breaking them from the trance.

Hey, I should be the one protecting her! Not them! Ryder thought angrily. And who's the little girl? Her daughter? She had another man's child?!

Alison opened her arms wide wanting Kahlan to carry her so she took her from Jace. When Kahlan took her from Jace, Jace and Chace gave her a questioning look and she mouthed ' Ryder '.

Jace eyes lit up with understanding but Chace still gave Kahlan the questioning look.

Kahlan mentally face palmed, thinking, Oh right, Chace didn't know about Ryder.

Jace immediately step in front of Kahlan glaring at Ryder and protecting her from his gaze and Chace did followed Jace's action without question, thinking Ryder is a danger to Kahlan. Ryder, seeing that Jace and Chace was very protective of her, glared right back.
