Why Didn't You Tell Me {9}

i am dedicating this chapter to my editor for her hard work. she made my story better although she only edited the first two chapter, currently waiting for her to finish editing chapter 3. but still she made the first two chapter better. ok i will stop i am feel like a windbag.

i am really really sorry for the late update... i went to beijing for a week. i was intending to this chapter there but when i tried to open wattpad, i couldnt... the government blocked alot of foreign country website wattpad included. so i couldnt upload this chapter. and also i have to prepare for school this week. next week school reopen. so i am very sorry...

so no more delay.. lets carry on with the storyy... i hope you like it. remember to vote, fan and comment !!!

  Chapter 9 - Why Didn't You Tell Me?  

Kahlan nodded to Chace to pass the note around for them to read.

"If you guys read carefully, you can conclude that there is indeed a spy in the pack, so let me say this. We already know who it is. We are giving the spy 5 hours to own up. The sooner, the less severe the punishment will be. If the 5 hours are up and the spy doesn't confess, then the whole pack will be punished and the spy will be kicked out of the pack. Do I make myself clear?" Kahlan said loudly.

"Yes, Alpha."

"Alright, now everyone get out of the room."

Everyone left except for Clarissa, Chace and Jace, and Ryder. 

Ryder went to close the door so no one could hear their conversation.  

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Ryder asked quietly with hurt in his eyes.

 "Why do I have to tell you?" Kahlan asked.

 "Because I'm your mate!"  

"Then you should remember very well that you rejected me."  

"I regretted it." Ryder said sorrowfully.  

"Of course you regretted it. Who wouldn't?" Kahlan said sarcastically.  

"You still haven't told me why you didn't tell me."

 Kahlan bit her lip. "I couldn't..." she whispered, tears threatening to break out.  

"Ryder, stop it! You're making her upset!" Clarissa exclaimed.  

Ryder turned his head to her.

"You knew too didn't you?! Why didn't you tell me?" Ryder yelled.  

"I'm sorry Ryder. I just found out. Kahlan told me about it when we were at the hospital. And besides, it wasn't my story to tell." Clarissa said, shaking her head.  

"Please leave, and give us some privacy." Ryder said.  

Jace looked at Kahlan for consent, and she nodded. The three left the room.  

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked again.  

"I couldn't," Kahlan said quietly.  

"Why couldn't you?"  

"You rejected me because you thought I was not good enough for you. If I told you I was raped, you would reject me again." Kahlan said, tears flowing down her face.  

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have rejected you. If I didn't, then this wouldn't have happened and I had never thought that you weren't good enough for me. I just thought that you were not my type so I rejected you." Ryder said shamefully.  

"No, if you hadn't rejected me, I wouldn't have met all these people and I wouldn't have formed a pack."  

The both of them fell silent.  

Come one Ryder! Ask her already! Ryder thought encouragement to himself.  

"Will you accept me back?" Ryder asked pleadingly.

"No, I'm sorry." she said, shaking her head.

"I can't let myself let you get close enough to hurt me again. There will never be a place for us. Not after you rejected me."   

Ryder nodded understandingly.  

"I'm sorry. Really. Now can you leave so I can get some rest?" she said.  

Ryder nodded again, and was half way out the door before he stopped in mid-step and turned back to Kahlan.

"There's always a place for us Kahlan. Never forget that."

With that said, Ryder walked out of the room.
