Chapter 2

After my dad came up to my room and gave me his sympathy, I changed into my pajamas and laid in my bed. Before I fell asleep, I decided to text my best friend, Amy.

(A=Amy & E=Emily)

E: Hey Amy

A: How bad was it this time?

E: I've had worse

It was true. I have had worse. Way worse. At least my dad didn't yell at me and tell me how worthless I am. He didn't have to. I already knew.

A: Emily!

E: What?

I already knew what she was going to say.

A: Your not going to make it through senior year if you don't tell someone. My God, Emily. It's only 2 months into the school year!

E: Trust me, I know. You tell me that every time you text me.

A: I'm sorry, Emily. But your my best friend! And my only friend. Life would suck without you.

E: I know, Amy. And your my Best friend and only friend. I know your just trying to look out for me.

A: Thanks, Emily

E: Your welcome, Amy

I heard footsteps in the hallway and knew that if my dad caught me with my phone, I would get twice the beating that I got today.

E: I have to go! I think my dad is coming!

A: Oh my God! Emily!

I turned my screen off, turned over, and acted like I was asleep. A few seconds later, my door cracked opened and my dad peaked his head in.

"Emily?" My dad whispered. I didn't answer.

"Emily?" He said a little louder. I decided that he wasn't going to give up until I answered him.

"Hmm?" I groaned

"I brought you a sandwich"

I turn over, excited to finally have dinner for the first time in, I don't know how long. Even if it's just a sandwich, it's better than nothing. But when I looked at the plate in my dad's hands, I saw that he had brought me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"Dad, I'm allergic to peanuts." I said looking up at him.

"Oh. Right." He said, disappointed. "Well, I'll eat this one and make you another one."

"No, dad. It's fine. I know your tired. Just go to bed." I said softly, knowing that the least little thing will cause him to get mad. And I couldn't afford getting abused again today.

"You sure?"

"Yeah dad, I'm sure. Thanks anyway." I faked a smile.

"Your welcome, honey. And I really am sorry for what you said I did."

"I know."

"Love you, Emy."

"Love you too, dad."

He turned around slowly and closed the door behind him. When I was sure that he was downstairs, I turned over and grabbed my phone from under my pillow.

E: I'm back

A: What happened?

E: He brought me a sandwich and called me 'Emy'

A: Really? I wasn't expecting that.

E: Yeah. Amy, I know it's hard to believe, but he really is trying.

A: Well at least you got dinner.

E: It was peanut butter and jelly.

A: Oh.

E: Yeah. Well I'm tired. Goodnight, Amy.

A: Goodnight, Emily.

And with that, I turned over and fell asleep.

A/N

Okay, I know this is boring, but it's just a fill-in chapter.

Anyway, at least now you know that her best, and only, friend is Amy, her dad really is trying to do better even thought he is not doing a good job, her nicknames are Emy and Ems, even though it doesn't call her Ems yet, and she is allergic to peanuts. (You will need to know that later in the book).

Okay, so I know this really sucks but I'm trying. Please don't judge! And since it took forever for me to update, I'm going to post another chapter tonight. But until then....
