Adelia shoots me a glare as she walks past me. The scent of another man's cologne is easy to pick up.
I quickly run after the baby and attempt to calm her down. Adelia pours a glass of whiskey.
"How was your day honey?" I ask, rocking the baby in a vain attempt to calm her down.
"Paperwork upon piles of more paperwork. I stayed a whole hour later just signing those worthless papers."
I open my mouth to correct her. She is actually three hours late, but I assume she doesn't want to hear that. She drinks ger glass quickly and calms the alcoholic burn by pounding her chest. Soon after, the glass in her hand was full again.
I leave her alone and clean up after Carina. Her bedtime was soon, and I didn't want her to see what might happen.
As I closed Carina's door, I watched Adelia wobble my way.
