Chapter 6
ARI (During her blackout)
A brooding, dark, waiting blackness.
Trapped, unable to set myself free.....
Suddenly, flashes of images and feelings, followed by my emotions arose. Images of what once was..
So fast. Completely incomprehensible.
A breeze fluttering the papers. Coldness entering.
Lights fleeing, darkness reining. Fear.
A catch in my breath, it now becoming labored. Shock.
Last breaths. Taken greedily, stopped abruptly by the squeeze in my heart.
Tinged Darkness. Light just beyond the corner, peeking through.
My thought processes returned, and my analytical brain kicked into high gear.
This was not eternal darkness, not complete death. How I knew, I had no idea, but I knew this was how I became a ghost.
KIAN
But as soon as it was firmly grasped in my hand, I felt it disappear. Her form, flickering once again. See-through, not so see-through, see-through, not so see-through. Back and forth she changed. Finally she stopped blinking like ghostly Christmas lights and stayed in one form.
Her ghost form.
I wasn't fooled; I knew she was not un-dead. I knew she couldn't have been brought back. The pain in her eyes was still visible as she locked those hazy blue orbs onto mine.
"Kian?" she croaked.
My heart started to pound, desperately awaiting its sweet release it begged for with each forceful tug as I kneeled down in front of her silvery body that lay over her grave.
ARI
Hope. I felt it. I could feel light again.
Light was blinding me through that tunnel. And when I emerged from that tunnel, everything was brighter than I remembered. It was almost unbearable. But that was just a shadow of a memory.
Now as I surfaced to my form, I could comprehend the world around me; I had surfaced from the black pit.
But my sensations made no sense..
I felt the grass beneath my body. Then I didn't. I felt something against my head that was hard and rough. Then I was floating, everything invisible to the touch. Over, and over again.
I had no time to analyze the gift, however confusing it was, that the black hole had given me. What he had awoken in me...
My eyes shot open. I desperately searched my surroundings, and that's when the pain hit. My arm was on fire. It radiated heat in waves of pain. Then my head started to throb, the memories playing over again in my mind, but not sucking me in.
I lay there for I don't know how long. I was about to black out, when I heard a noise. A quick pounding on the earth, deep breathing, then a close presence. The presence was comforting; it felt right. From the angle I was looking, a guy's body- from his waist down was in front of me. I reached out and grabbed his hand. Some deep thought, some knowing was begging I do it, telling me everything would be all right as soon as I closed that distance.
The voice was right. As soon as my hand made contact with his, I felt better, I felt at peace.
I managed to push out "Kian". Then the shock that I was touching someone rang through me, and once again I was a wispy ghost, my hand falling through his. I changed again and again. Body, form, body, and finally form again.
I looked up, squinting through the pain, and found my favorite green eyes. Those green eyes gave me hope. That surge of hope made me feel his hand again. This time I wasn't scared, I knew that I could touch him, and through that touch, everything would wash away. The pain, the little hints of memories, and most of all, the empty feeling of being a ghost.
Somehow his touch made me more whole.
KIAN
When her hand was boldly in my hand again, this time with more sureness, something happened. A slight tingle shot through me, familiar, but it was gone before I could recognize its signature. But in that moment, something else happened...
She began to feel more whole, more complete in my hand, and consequently, I felt more whole as well. She had changed, she reeked of something.. something unfamiliar. But I also felt something else.
It didn't make sense, but as my her delicate hand rested in mine, I could feel her soul, and it was a strong, steady beat.
Her presence screamed 'Human, Human, Human'. That's how much humanity my limited radar was picking up from her.
Normally her soul was strong, yes, but this was unnatural. I could feel her, I could see her, something wasn't right.
I asked her, "What happened?"
She said, "I think my killer tried to take my soul again."

Okay, hope this isn't confusing. Ari is starting to understand what happened to her, how she died, what the presence in Tom's ghost did to her.. so ya'll will find out as she finds out. And just to clarify, her memories are coming back, those vague sensations and feelings I described all have to do with her death, she just can't comprehend them all yet. It's like a puzzle; pieces are fitting in slowly, revealing the masterpiece (not that this is a masterpiece).
Ask Questions if you are confused. Love ya'll! Comment, you know they make me happy!!
********* NOTE: ARI is still a ghost. She can now fluctuate from a body to ghost form because her humanity is growing stronger.. her soul is now more connected and whole. IT WILL MAKE SENSE WITH TIME!!!!!!!!!!
