My heart felt as if it had been shattered into millions of pieces.

Lauren and I stared at each other from a distance as she talked with her friends at lunch. Her green orbs watching me intently, but still listening to her friends like she had done it a million times before.

If you couldn't tell, Lauren is the love of my life. The one that helped cure my heart that wasn't whole to begin with. The one that loved me when no one else did, not even myself. The one that taught me how to laugh and smile again. The one that taught me what love is and how to feel like a human being.

But I regret her teaching me how to feel like a human being again, because now I feel my heart being so fragile, tiny, and cracking all at once.

The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch and everyone started making their way to the double doors. Lauren and I broke eye contact and joined the sea of students walking to their classes.

*********

The end of school had came faster than I expected.

Students running towards their rides because of the pouring rain, you could hardly see.

I casually walked to my old truck, not bothered by the rain like most people. I enjoy the rain, it relaxed me. Made me feel as if people weren't the only ones with feelings but the gods and people above feel too.

I hopped into my truck and started it up, the engine stuttering before humming with life. I pulled out from the parking lot and drove onto the street.

After a couple of minutes, I noticed a small figure walking in the rain. I squinted my eyes, attempting to make the figure clear but in the rain it was impossible.

Finally, the white sweater became familiar.

Lauren.

I slowed down, strolling slowly beside her. Lauren didn't seem to notice until I honked, making her jump and pull out her headphones. She studied me, then realized who it was.

Lauren sighed, "Go away, y/n."

"Come on Lauren, let me give you a ride home." I was hopeless, I didn't want her to be in the rain.

"I said go away."

"No. Get in the truck." I demanded, but then added, "Please?"

She sighed loudly again, but didn't argue and got into the truck when I stopped beside her. She adjusted herself before putting on her seatbelt, then looked straight forward.

The small talk wasn't enough for me, it seemed so boring. The tension thick as hell.

Then, the truck was slowing down, smoke coming from under the hood, before a loud pop was heard.

Lauren shook her head from beside me when we came to a full stop, "Always told you to fix it up or get a new one, but no, you're as stubborn as a damn mule. Now what are we gonna do y/n?! We're stuck in the middle of no where, while its fucking pouring cats and dogs!" She scolded me.

"Just calm down, okay? We can just walk a couple of miles, it'll be fine." I answered, getting out of the truck already after putting my phone in a safe place.
