"honey, dont worry. be yourself. be nice. and everyone will love you!" angie's mom smiled, throwing her hands up in the air off of the car wheel for a couple of seconds.

"yeah okay." angie answered, rolling her eyes slightly. her mom was always overly lovey whenever the situation was stressful. the first day at a new school for her daughter was a great example.

"no, for real angelina." her mom tilted her head so her eyes could meet her daughters. "be yourself. don't get sucked into one of those groups." her mom raised her eyebrows until angie nodded. her mom turned the car engine off and then turned back to her daughter.

"then go seize the day!" her mom waved her arm for Angie to open the door and leave. they had pulled up in front of the school, and Angie couldn't help the lump in her throat growing more and more as she watched all the teens, already separated into groups with the friends they had made two years ago. their noise and voices echoed through out the car.

Angie took a deep breath, and with one more supportive glance from her mother, she grabbed her backpack and exited the car. as soon as she did, she felt her anxiety double. she felt like she was going to burst open from all the butterflies in her system.

her mom pulled away and drove away. some skinny girls lacking clothes recognized her existence, but no one seemed to care that there was a dirty blonde, short, and flustered new girl standing on the curb.

"hey, nice ass." some guy passed her with his group of friends, receiving lots of laughter. when Angie realized he was talking to her, she glared at him. his eyes widened and looked away quickly. the boy had dark brown hair and tan skin. just some fuck boy.

where was she to start? she had to go to the office and collect her schedule and her locker combination.. and home room number. she started towards the red double doors, but it was hard to squeeze through the scene of people. her anxiety grew and grew as she bounced off different teens, glares and more glares shot in her direction. she finally came to a small clearing not far away from the doors. there stood a tree, and under the tree sat a group of people.

they were dressed in loose clothes, that probably hadn't been washed in weeks. actually no, months. they sat under the tree, leaned against it, and a couple of them were even smoking a joint.

is that even allowed here? Angie thought, staring at the teenagers. one of the boys, a tall, handsome, dark haired teen who you could tell by his smile meant no good, and who also just so happened to be holding the lit blunt, hollered at her.

"hey! babe! stop staring and come join us." he yelled, signaling at her with his hand that held the joint. when she caught his eye, he winked, and angies stomach lurched. was anyone else even paying attention to her?

her eyes flicked between the door and the group of teens. she saw a girl slightly hidden behind the tree watching her. she had bright flaming hair and watched her like a hawk.

"babe come on, don't be afraid. i can comfort you." the same guy yelled. angies legs shook. she wanted to keep moving but she couldn't. why couldn't she move?

"hey!" the flaming hair girl yelled over the clearly high boy, walking in front of the tree and him. she was staring at angie. her face was hard and cold, but as she came closer, angie could tell that her green eyes were soft, and that she was trying to help. the girl stopped right in front of her, blocking out the doors, and the obnoxious teen out of her way. she gently touched her shoulder.

"you okay? you look as if you've seen a ghost." the flaming haired girl said, frowning slightly. when angie didn't answer, the girl went on.

"first day, it's okay. we've all been there. even that dip shit over there." she rolled her eyes and pointed back at the boy. he waved excitedly. what the fuck was that boy on.

"thanks." angie managed to squeak out, and suddenly the flaming girl was giving a heartwarming smile, so unlike her stone cold face.

"and she talks! yay!" the girl lifted angies arm in the air and waved it around, giggling. angie couldn't help but join in with the laughter. suddenly the girl was leaning close to her ear.

"but seriously, don't give brendon one second of your time. he has a girlfriend but she's really just another one of his slutty princesses." angie nodded at the girls information, surprised that she was talking about someone she was hanging out with just a few minutes earlier.

the flaming haired girl pulled away. "oh yeah i almost forgot!" she slapped her forhead jokingly. "im hayley! welcome to hell."
