ashley
-
the next day at school was boring. does anyone even give a fuck about school anymore? not really.

ashley studied herself in the school bathroom mirror. the floor, ceiling, and walls in the room all resembled the color something her cat had thrown up the other day. she squinted her eyes, looking at her long eyelashes and sparkling brown eye shadow she had put on this morning. she puckered her glossy, neon pink lips that matched her hair, and when she decided that she looked good enough, she left the bathroom without a sound.

her white heels (that her older brother hated) clicked on the tile floor of the empty school. it was only 6:30 am, and school started at 7:50. ashley always came early. she liked how quiet it was and how she could have some peace of mind.

at her house, it was almost always full of people. she had an older brother who had too many friends (many that she had secretly hooked up with) and her mom was rich because of all the husbands she had had. she had bus loads of cousins that always were home. she also owned three persian white cats, binky, rollerblades, and alexander.

if wasn't like she hated the attention. because she loved it. but it was nice for some quiet.

ashley rounded the corner to come face to face with a sophomore, michael clifford. ashley was a junior and absolutely hated everyone younger than her, especially boys. she liked older boys. like brendon (a senior).

michael was crazy for her. she literally told him to die everyday and she didn't understand why he was always here and back. could he take a clue? everything about him was gross. his messy unshaven chin, his poorly dyed blonde hair, and his apparel that looked like it had gone through hell and back (with so many holes!)

"hey." michael said slowly, a lopsided smile showing up on his lips, and he leaned on the locker, right in front of ashley.

"move." ashley scoffed, rolling her eyes and pushing through michael. why can't he get a  life.

"wha- hey, hey wait!" michael yelled after ashley, his smile turned into a frown and he desperately followed her, finally catching up with her. ashley looked at him annoyed.

"look, ashley. i know you hate me-" ashley tried to push him away but he blocked her. he smelled like smoke and firewood. ashley finally gave a 'humph', giving up and crossing her arms. michael smiled at her cute, annoyed expression.

"please just hear me out. there's a party at franks tonight and-" he was cut off again.

"michael if you think im going to say yes to going with you to one of your gross band friends party, then you are literally even stupider than i thought you were." she poked his chest threatening with her fake nail, glaring at him through her lashes. michael laughed nervously.

"look." he rubbed the back of his neck. "you can leave whenever you want. why say no to free alcohol and no supervision." he looked down at her, hope clear in his eyes.

ashley bit her lip, thinking about his offer, but still keeping her glare on him. she could leave whenever. also frank was a senior and his friend mikey had always caught ashleys eye...

"god you are such a 16 year old." she rolled her eyes, punching him softly in the chest. his eyes fell. "yeah, ill come with you. but im not staying long." ashley kept her hand on his chest for just one second too long. Michaels eyes lit up, a smile breaking on his face. before she could pull her hand away, michael grabbed it and went onto one knee. he looked up at her, smiling goofily.

"thank you for this honor, princess ashley." he said in a fake posh english accent, and didn't break eye contact with her as he gently placed his lips on her hand. ashley jerked her hand away, rolling her eyes and walking away from him as quickly as she could so he couldn't tell about the shift in color on her cheeks.
