the unfamiliar smell of cigarettes and alcohol welcomed me as soon as i entered the pub. immediately, i made a face and covered my nose to block the scent but i was distracted by frances laughing at me. "here, try to use this to cover your whole face." she attempted to give me a hanky with a smirk on her face but i refused to accept and gave her my most annoyed face in return. she continues to laugh at me, "jesus, kathleen. try to have fun!" she signaled the bartender to serve us two pints of beer.

i sat awkwardly, trying to take another sip of this pungent drink. frances was now hanging out with some guys from the distance which i am not really surprised with, so i just continued observing my surroundings. couples literally eating each other's faces on the couch, people grinding each other on the dance floor, groups of men and women chatting and drinking on their own tables. i shook my head and thought that why do people need to drink just to have fun.

not even half way through my drink, i was ready to leave this place not even worried about frances until a group of lads came on the stage and started playing their instruments. the one in the middle started singing along with the guitar.

"i got misled, mistook, discard

anything that i said

see im not the type to call you up drunk

but ive got some lies to tell."

the crowd went wild. minutes later, i was with them now, jamming to this band that i didnt even hear yet feels so close to me.
