It was the dead of night. The cats the leaders and deputies had asked to ho were waiting at the camp entrance. "We're staying to care for the kits," Windflower mewed. "There's no more important job than keeping them safe."
"I have to stay.. But I am fine with it." Reedpaw mewed.
Leafpelt gave his son a gentle lick behind the ears. "I am not loosing one of my kits so I am glad you are my son..."
Larkstep looked to her brother Ravenwing, her gaze boring into his dark blue eyes. "Are you coming?"
"I have to make sure Ivyleaf is safe." The tom replied.
"I can take care of myself Ravenwing for StarClan's sake." His mate meowed int between purrs of amusement.
"You go," a voice spoke, seeing that it was Clawfoot who stood beside her. "I'm the one who brought her into this forest and out of the dangers of AshClan. So I should be the one to watch her." The tabby tom with a white underbelly gave a soft look at the young tom, before he then gave his mate a lick on the cheek to then bound forward to join the rest of the group of WolfClan and ViperClan cats.
"Time to go." Onestar meowed as the two leaders, their deputies, warriors and apprentices all followed behind them. They had given the two ViperClan apprentices, Frostpaw and Finchpaw, the job of seeing who was guarding. The two looked in surprise to see four cats on guard!
"There's four cats there.." Frostpaw mewed silently two Dawnreed.
"Which means five to make a distraction.." The ViperClan deputy mewed, turning her head to nod at Windfur, Ryenose, Rainfrost, Splashfur, and Branchspots to go do so after they all looked at each other, and slinked silently through the semi-tall foliage.
The five young warriors snuck upon them from behind, then sprang themselves onto the four. "Get them!" Ryenose demanded as they all lured them a few treelengths away but not far.
"Right.." Whitemane mewed. "Now that the guards are gone--"
"Crimsonstar must be inside. I didn't see him being chased in that lot." Liontail commented.
"What-is he inviting us to attack them?" Sootpaw scoffed in a snort.
"If yes, we may as well hit them as hard and as fast as the skills our ancestors gave us!" Lizardstep sneered, sliding out his claws.
"Right then, we all move out now." Whitestar ordered as the two clans all bounded onward.
They had neared the ragged twoleg nest that seemed to be their shelter.
"WolfClan and ViperClan!" Whitestar and Onestar yowled in unison.
Shapes began to appear in alarm causing yowls of confusion.
"Attack!" The leaders shouted. All of the cats rushed toward the den.
"Ready?" Sootpaw asked his brother and sister.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Stormpaw replied.
"For Skyfoot!!" The three yelled in triumph as they raced behind Silverpaw and Howlingpaw as they all gave offbeat battle yowls at the same time.
"Intruders! Intruders!" A shrill voice cried.
"We're under attack!" Another cat shrieked out.
"It's WolfClan and ViperClan!" A voice declared aloud above the clamor.
Cats slinked from the shadows if the den into the running warriors. Crimsonstar could be seen among them.
"Ottertail! Ashfire!" Onestar called. The two cats he had named rushed to fight off a cat.
While most were distracted, Leafpelt, Hazelheart, Heatherstorm, Jaggedtooth, Lighteningtail, and Crowflight all made their way to the den.
Three apprentices stood their ground, pelts bristling despite how small they all had looked compared to the older cats.
Heatherstorm chased one away, nipping at their heels.
"Pathetic bunch!" Jaggedtooth snarled. "Fight like true warriors!" He chased the other two.
Crowflight charged for a furious medium ginger tom and began struggling with him as he tackled him. Lighteningtail faced a cream colored tom and began to fight him.
Lefpelt and Hazelheart tried picking up Skyfoot's scent.
The pair snuck away from the fighting and found her. Skyfoot's eyes shone with hope. "I knew you'd come for me.." She mewed, nuzzling her head in Leafpelt's neck with a loving purr.
The three then started to leave when they heard a low growl.
Crimsonstar burst through the darkness and tackled Leafpelt. Hazelheart leaped onto him.
"Stop!" Skyfoot cried out.
The three stared at her. As they had all stayed where they were.
"Father, if you kill them, you kill me too." She meowed.
The russet tom's glazed with fury on Leafpelt. "This is your fault! You're making my daughter die for you! How dare you!"
"How dare I?" The amber eyed tom asked in disbelief.
"Yes! You've tainted my daughter! Ended the life of my son! I knew I had a good reason to bring het back," He spat. "To get her away from you!"
"And my own kits..?" Skyfoot reminded in a whimper of sadness.
In the not too far distance just outside as well as inside the den, the battle cries of fighting cats grew more ferocious and loud as the battle outside the den seemed to be intensifying.
A she-cat stepped forward. "Crimson, you did a foolish thing..."
"Stay out if this Thornfurl.." He ordered his mate.
"This isn't a fight you can win!" She hissed at him.
Heatherstorm rushed towards the five. "We need to get out of here!" She breathed as a scrawny cat leaped on top of her, the cat sank his fangs into her throat as she cried out in sheer pain.
