Chapter 1

By the time I woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.

It's been along time since I had been able to splurge on a good 12 hour rest, and it felt good. Though I had to keep reminding myself that we weren't safe yet. It was only last night we had escaped the Edison group again- the 3rd time, was it? Plus, there was that whole "adventure" with that ghost last night. Oh god, last night. That was an experience I think I could live without. Though, I guess you could say that about everything I've experience in the past two weeks.

I looked to my side. There was Tori, still asleep. I wonder if she slept through the whole scene last night. Wouldn't surprise me if she did. Maybe with all this extra sleep, she'll be in a better mood. But I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up too high.

After debating if I should go back to bed or not, I decided to get up, the rumbling in my stomach settling the argument. I tried to get out of bed and to the door quietly, but the old wood floors creaked under my feet. I looked back to Tori and heard her sigh and mumble something like, "No respect..." and turn away from my direction.

There wasn't much time to look around the house last night, so I wasn't completely sure where exactly the kitchen was. I wandered around the hallway for a few minutes. I found a bathroom and-gulp-the stairs to the attic, but no kitchen.

"If your looking for food, your going the wrong way."

I jumped and spun. There was Simon, on the other side of the hall, a huge grin plastered on his face.

"Okay, I think we already established the fact that I am jumpy, you can stop testing it now." I said, annoyed.

Simon, still smiling, walked toward me. He stopped a few feet in front of me, then said, "So, you hungry? Andrew and Derek are having lunch downstairs if you want some. Better hurry though, before Derek gets to all of it."

"Yeah, thanks." I nodded and started to walk passed him, to where the kitchen suposively was.

Simon grabbed my arm before I could get too far. "Hey." he said, turning me toward him, "You  ok?" I could see that he was worried. "Did Tori say anything about last night? I swear, if she--"

"No, no." I interrupted before he could conjure up anything that would cause another bickering fit between them. "She's still asleep. I don't think she even knows about last night, she seemed pretty peaceful when I went back to bed."

"Oh, okay, that's good." He still looked a bit uneasy. "Are you okay? I mean, with last night?"

"Well, I don't think I'll ever be okay with any of this," I sighed and looked at the floor, "but I have to learn to cope. I'm just upset that I couldn't get more information from him."

"Yeah, that would have been pretty awesome. Though, if a ghost is like, about to kill you, I think that's a sign that you should get rid of em'." he said with a light chuckle, sounding like he was trying to lighten the mood. Unfortunately, haven gotten on the topic of last night, my mood had plummeted.

"Yeah. Good thing Derek came, who knows what would have happened."

I could be wrong, but I think Simon stiffened after I said that. "Hey," he said, lifting my chin with his fingers so I was looking at him instead of the floor "lets not think about last night. Yet, anyway. Sorry to have brought it up."
