I was last to leave the class after miss Wright 'had a chat' with me about my 'careless behaviour'. I left the class with my head down low and let the door close shut behind me. I sighed. I was about to start walking in the direction of first period when I realised Matt was standing not far from the door. He had waited for me. Why? He walked towards me rolling up the sleeves of his over sized jumper, revealing his pale and skinny arms.
"Hi Matt" I sighed.
"Hi" he replied sounding just as fed up as me "what did 'the bitch' say?
"Oh you know blah blah blah careless behaviour....you're here to learn all that kind of stuff".
"Oh" he replied.
"Don't feel sorry for me" I laughed "this happens to me all the time".
Matt smiled.
I feel like I've know him forever...
"What do you have first period?" I asked "I'll show you there if you want".
"I don't know" Matt replied sounding rather lost. I guess it was only his first day.
"Let's see your time table" I unfolded the white piece of paper he handed me from his back pocket and read what the first day of school had in store for him.
"Ohhh bummer" I laughed.
"What?" He asked sounding nervous.
"First period..." I moved my finger across the piece of paper "...history"
"Shit" Matt muttered.
I glanced at him and sniggered.
"Second period... Music" I continued. "That's a good one".
"Yeh" Matt seemed to have cheered up a bit.
"I'm in your music class later but I can show you to your history class first, we have time". I reassured him.
"Thanks" he smiled in an appreciative way.
I looked back at matts timetable and read what class we needed to get to.
"Your history lesson is in g04" I informed him "follow me".
I led the way down the corridors as people stared at this unfamiliar boy with the girl who didn't like talking to anyone but Dom Howard. It amused me that everyone was so confused and I had full understanding on the situation. I glanced over my shoulder every so often to check that Matt was still behind me and we exchanged smiles. Once the crowds in the tight corridors thinned Matt was able to walk beside me.
"Look..Urm thanks for taking care of me and all" Matt blushed as we reached go4.
"No problem" I beamed.
"I'm not used to people wanting to help me". Matt sighed with a frown.
I assumed that's why he had joined a new school at the beginning of year 10, it must have been difficult at his old school, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to hurt him...
"I understand" I smiled "I'm always here and if you need me just give me a shout".
"Thank you". He looked at me with wide blue eyes while I examined his slim body in his oversized jeans and rolled up black jumper. He's different.
"Not a problem" I replied " maybe this year I might even make a friend" I joked.
Matt giggled.
"I'll meet you outside of here after class and I'll walk you to music" I added as I rushed off down the corridor on my way to my own class on the other side of the school.

"Ok!" Matt shouted after me.

I have known him under two hours yet I feel like I've finally found someone who isn't an ass. What am I going to do with myself?
I giggled at the thought.
