"Sorry Button. I have plans with Scoot and Applebloom. I can't today."
"Not at all?"
"Well..." I trail off, trying to think of any time I might have available to hang out with Button. "I guess I could hang out for a little bit afterwa-Oh wait! You can come with us!"
His face brightens up at this, obviously thankful he might be able to spend some more time with me. "Really?"
"Well I'd have to ask them first. I don't want to throw it on them if they want it to be just the three of us."
He starts running off but calls to me over his shoulder. "Let's go ask then!" I giggle and start trotting the other way.
"Wrong way Button!" Slightly blushing at his mistake, he turns around and runs to me, slowing his pace to match mine when he gets right besides me.
The whole way to the CMC clubhouse, Button and I talk and laugh together. At one point, as he's excitedly telling me about this new video game he got, I get lost in his sparkling eyes. I'm stuck in this trance for many minutes until he turns just enough the other way that I can no longer see his eyes. He stays turned for just a moment but it's enough to snap me back into reality. There's no denying I have a major crush on him, even if I wanted to deny it. All I can do is hope he feels the same and one day it'll spill from our mouths. I don't have the confidence to do anything like that and I doubt Button would have even realized his feelings yet if they were real.
When we get to the clubhouse, I tell him to wait outside it while I talk to the girls. He listens and does exactly what I asked of him.
"Hey girls," I say as I walk into the clubhouse, "I have a question to ask."
"Yeah, what is it?" Scoot asks.
"Well you know how I agreed to hang out with you guys today?" They nod.
"Please don't tell us you're canceling for Button."
"No! Not at all. I don't want to fight with you guys again. I was gonna ask if you would mind if he joined us," I explain. "If not, I'll tell him we can hang out later of course!" I quickly add.
Scoot and Applebloom glance at each other, obviously unsure of what their answer should be.
After multiple minutes of arguing sides, we all decide that he is allowed in this one time but if they don't like it, he's not to be joining us again while we hang out until they're more comfortable with him. With a smile on my face, I walk out of the clubhouse to where Button waits. When he sees me, he asks if he's allowed to join us. I nod but stop him as he starts to run toward the clubhouse.
"Hold on Button," I say, causing him to stop and turn back toward me. "You're allowed in today but if they don't like it, you're not gonna be allowed to join us again. So just please try your best to get on their good side. I want to be able to hang out with you and them without it having to be separately."
With a large smile on his face, he nods. "Of course Sweetie! I'll do my best!"
With that, we walk into the clubhouse together.
After a few hours, we're all talking and laughing together. Scoot and Applebloom have thankfully warmed up to Button again, which I am incredibly thankful for. Saying goodbye to Scoot and Applebloom, we go our separate ways to our houses. Button and I walk together for as long as we can before we have to separate as well when we get to my house.
We're stood right outside my door. "Today was really fun, don't you agree Button?"
"Yes I do! I'm happy your friends don't hate me anymore."
"Me too! That would be so stressful if they did." If they had, hated him, it would have been more than just stressful. It'd mean my best friends would hate every time I hung out with him, spoke about him, or even thought about him. Instead of supporting my crush on him and helping me with it, they would discourage it and try to get me to stop liking him as much as possible. It would make hanging out with him a pain. It would either be in secret or come with a lot of disapproval.
"So are you hanging out with them again tomorrow?"
"I dunno yet," I answer.
"If not, wanna hang out with me?"
"Of course! But even if I am, you can just join us again."
He shakes his head. "Yeah, but I feel like you should hang out with them alone every once in a while. You don't always have to be with me."
I give him a smile as he says this. He's so sweet. He's thinking of what they would want instead of what he would want. "Yeah, I guess. Well in that case, I'll be at your house at 2 if I'm not with them."
He nods and I open the door. "Bye Button!"
"Bye Sweetie!"
Then I walk in and shut the door behind me, watching through the window as he walks away.
