(Ignis' point of view)
Mateo picks out yet another hard cover book from the everlasting bookshelves and begins to read it. The title reads, 'History of the Realm'.
'Exagoni is home of six different species, The Phoenix (The burning flame), The Vampire (The sun bound), The Werewolf (The moon bound), The Warlock (The magic weaver), The fairy (The fair folk), and The Witch or Wizard (The spell bounder).
Each species remains in their assigned territory or sectors that form the shape of a hexagon. The only aloud place where the species gather together is called The Curriculum, this place includes the Council Chambers where the six representatives of each sector meet and discuss the realms issues and ways to solve them. The only time a different species enters another sector is when a council representative or the ruler of a specific sector allows them to enter. Only under dire circumstances is another species aloud into another's sector. Species have not always gotten along, their were the wars between Werewolves and Vampires, Phoenixes and Fairies, and Warlocks and Witches/Wizards. These wars have since been resolved, yet certain species still hold a disregard for one another. The council was established to ensure these wars never occur again.
The No Spacers are a breed that are half Human and half Dragon. If the No Spacer is skilled enough, it can morph into a dragon about the size of a cottage. No Spacers have been wreaking havoc among the realm of Exagoni for centuries, the leader being a man named Actus. The No Spacers had been banished outside of the Exagoni's wall, and very few have had the privilege to enter the No Spacers territory. The only known way to kill a No Spacer is by ripping it's limbs or head clean off, or stabbing it with a silver knife. Specialised magic spells by the councils warlock or Witch/Wizard, is also a way to kill one.'
Mateo sighs and closes the book, soon realising it is not what he was looking for.
Ignis' eyes blurred with exhaustion, "How long until we have read every book in this blasted library?"
"Only 500 more books to go, Ignis," Mateo replies with equal exhaustion. Ingis sighs, she slams her book shut in irritation and angrily grabs another off the shelf.
"I swear on the Exagoni I've already read this book twice." Ignis states.
Suddenly the book starts glowing amber and Ignis dops the book in surprise. "By the Exagoni, Mateo, why did that book start glowing?" Ignis asks.
"Ignis, pick that book back up now." Mateo says in a hurried tone. Ignis cautiously picks the book back up, and it starts glowing again. Mateo snatches the book from Ignis' grasp and starts frantically trying read it.
"What does it say, Mateo?" Ignis curiously asks.
"Thats strange, it says nothing." Mateo says with a defeated sigh.
"Let me have a look then" Ignis replies, taking the book back from him.
It begins to softly glow a subtle Amber colour once again, lighting up Ignis' face. Ignis opens the front cover and words slowly start to inscribe in perfect cursive handwriting on the soft, slightly yellowed paper. The words read,
'The bird with the brightest spark, will leave the biggest mark.
The greatest of the Knights, will win all but one fight.
The leader that's bound, will soon be found.
The eldest son of Mary, is the destined Fairy.
The Warlock who is most out there, will break up a famous pair,
and the most perfect Witch, will no longer play fair.'
Ignis whispers the text aloud as she reads it over and over again in her head. Mateo stares at her with intensity. "What does it all mean Mateo?" Ignis asks, looking up with wide hopeful eyes.
"It means that you have the brightest spark." Mateo states.
"What do you mean?" Ignis asks with a worried tone.
"You are Exagoni's only hope, well You and five other people, will hopefully save this country from despair."
"Ok, where are the other five?"
"How should I know, I've been stuck in here with you for two years. But I know where to start, the eldest son of-" suddenly someone bursts into the room. His hair was drenched with sweat, and his eyes ablaze with intense hatred. He jumps on top of Mateo, bowling him to the ground and starts strangling him. Ignis shoves the boy off Mateo with force, and pins him to the ground. "What in the Exagoni are you doing?!" Ignis demands.
"Why do you care, you just sit all high and mighty in this room, while the world deals with its problems alone." he replies.
"Ignis, get off the poor boy, he looks familiar." Mateo says breathlessly sitting down on a nearby chair. Now that Ignis could get a good look at him, she slowly relaxes, starting to recognize those familiar judgemental green eyes. "Mary? You're Mary's child?" Ignis asks getting off of him.
"Why is that important?" the boy asks bitterly.
"Ignis, hand him the book." Mateo demands. Ignis picks up the book off the floor and hands it to him expectantly. The boy stares at the book for a while, confused as to why it was glowing. He slowly grasps the book and the glow turns a subtle green
"What is your name, boy?" Mateo asks forcefully.
"My name is Abel, eldest son of Queen Mary, soon to be King." Abel says formally, expecting a bow, but they simply stare at him.
"Wait, soon to be?" Ignis asks quickly.
"My Mother's dead," he says bitterly.
"Mary's dead?" Mateo says. Ignis' tears slowly fall to her cheeks. Abel stares as Ignis cries, never having seen golden tears before.
"Why do you care? You two injured my Mother, it's your fault she's dead!" Abel shouts at them.
"That was just a lie we told to keep chaos from breaking loose." Ignis says sorrowfully.
"So then who destroyed my Mothers arms?"
"The No Spacers. They attacked and killed three of us and weakened two, I was lucky to be absent at the time." Ignis says, remembering those dark hours.
"Finally the one time Ignis forgets something and it ends up saving her life." Mateo says under his breath. Ignis throws Mateo a glare.
"Ok, so why is this book glowing green when I touch it, and red when she does the same?" Abel asks cautiously
"You are apart of the prophecy Abel. You two need to find the other four fast before time runs out and the No Spacers attack." Mateo states.
"Well then, where do we look?" Ignis asks, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"The Knights are Vampires, you will need to find Exagoni's greatest and somehow get all of them to prove that they can fight, then get the runner up to touch the book." Mateo says.
"Absolutely not, I have a kingdom to run."
"Come on Abel, can't your brother fill in for you? If you don't willingly come with me, I will drag you by your ear." Ignis replies with a sweet smile.
Abel chuckles, "I would like to see you try." Ignis slowly stalks towards him and stares him in the eye, then suddenly reaches out and grabs his ear harshly and pulls him towards the door. Throughout this, Abel is squealing like a girl, while Mateo is falling out of his chair in laughter.
