It had been a bit since Ona had returned. It was sunset when Etain and Aradi realized she had been gone for a longer time than usual. Too long. To the point where Aradi began to frequently look to see if their mother had returned, but to no avail. Though Etain was at the point of getting restless. She wanted to find where her mother had gone, and not just wait here for her. She was determined to find her mother, and she didn't care what she had to do to find her.
Now, Etain had decided what she would do. It would be easy if Aradi would let her go right away. She could just climb out of the tree and go on her search. But she was already thinking of a plan in case she would need to sneak off. She could make plans quite easily, so this would be a piece of cake. But first, it was time to ask if she would need this plan or not.
"Hey Aradi?" Etain said in a babyish voice of sorts. She used that only when she really wanted something. And she forgot that Aradi knew that.
Aradi sighed and looked over at Etain. "Etain, I'm not sure what you want, but can it wait? At least until mom gets back." she said. Yes, she got really worried when things weren't right. But she would be okay to try and ask still. Though plan B was still an option.
Etain kept on that babyish look and tone. "I just wanted to know if I could go look for Mama." she said. Even though she was at the age she called her mother "Mom", she just needed that for an extra kick. Though Aradi wasn't exactly too happy with this.
" What?! Etain, she's only been gone for one day! And I don't want you getting lost." Aradi replied. So it seemed that she would need to go with plan B. Though it might be fun going on the little search. "Anyways, you should be going to bed soon. She'll probably be back in the morning."
Etain nodded, though the nod was a fake one. She pouted for a moment though. "Okay..." she said, while getting herself to lay down. She had learned how to fake a lot of things over time. And sleeping was one of them. She shut her eyes, and began to breathe like she was sleeping.
Aradi, while being confused by this, decided to accept this, and since they had eaten before, go to bed herself. But when she awoke, things would be very different.
A Few Hours Later
For a while now, Etain had been trying to keep herself awake with her eyes closed, but she had just managed to do so. She finally thought that Aradi was asleep, and knew that she needed to leave now.
She began to walk near the opening in the tree. Since it was upright, and the hole wasn't too close to the ground, she would need to climb down. She looked out into the night sky, a bit excited to save her mom, but at the same time, wondering what she would face along the way. Though she had her excitement with her, and she was ready to go.
She began to climb out with her small arms, and though it was tough, in a good amount of time, she got herself down and began to look off into the large forest ahead. But instead of being afraid she went out, without a care in the world. She had no idea about that dangers that were so close to her.
