Going to school in my situation is the worst. All of the kids in my grade have already found their true love and it's all they talk about. They say say their quest started while they were on vacation or something.
As I was on my way to school I walked by the newspaper stand and it seemed pretty packed so I figured I might as well get a paper because the issue must be important. I grabbed a newspaper from the stand and gave the man fifty cents. I sat down on a bench and began to read it.
"Rahlabir returns: Destroying necklaces left and right. Over 500 people color blinded, their mates without a soul."
If your necklace is broken, you lose your soul become a mind slave to whomever broke it. This can only happen if you and your true love haven't found each other yet, because once you find them your necklace becomes one. If the one necklace breaks then you both become a soulless mind slave. Once your true love dies your world becomes black and white. Because these people have no soul they are not alive.
I am still in danger.
An instant panic ran through me and I rushed back home.
I've had anxiety my entire life and things that tell me that I'm in danger make me dizzy on on occasion faint.
"MOM! DAD!" I scream as I run in. I hear no response. "Mom?" I asked. "Dad?" I decided to call them on my phone.
"Hello?" My mother asks
"Mom, I'm having an anxiety attack and I can't go to school like this. I'm staying home."
"Did you read the weekly newspaper?" She asks
"Yeah..." I admit
"Honey you shouldn't do that. You know how you get when you read something bad!" She says
"I know, but now I know that I need to go on my quest soon. If I don't my life could be in danger."
"Your life is in danger either way! Rahlabir is ruthless and will stop at nothing to take over the world."
"Well, that's because he's an idiot and cheated on Ghalia with Piliar." I laughed
There was a long pause and all I could hear was my mothers breathing.
"You know how I said never to drink the water from the Well of Eternity?" She asks
"Yes,"
"Go drink water from the well and bring back your love." She says.
"Can I bring Talia and DJ? Their parents say that we can do our journey together."
"Yeah, go get them. I'll see you when you get back." She says
"I love you, Mom." I say
"I love you too."
I hung up the phone and immediately ran across the street to Talia and DJ's house.
"It's time." I said.
