The month on January breezed by, Max had a great time at the dance with Zoey, Danny and Max started hanging out occasionally but of course Cayden is still always around the house and Nolan's work load jumped for some strange reason we both couldn't figure out. Megan called me twice from her photo shoot overseas as we talked about the next few months, the wedding is only three months away and she told me she would be in town at the end of this week, staying the whole time before the wedding in April. Max and Nolan still having their time each week together and Nolan was also helping him with his driver's ed stuff letting him drive any time they went out. My work was mundane compare to Nolan's as I dealt with a few older teens along with assisting others in the office on their case files. Max is getting more into school activities with Cayden so the days passed and I wasn't feeling ignored because I now know just how my parents must have felt as I grew up and socialized more away from them. It's how things go as kids grow into young adults, still Max and I have our date night and I go with him on the weekends when he wants to surf so we are bonding more each day.
I could see the differences in Max's attitude and outlook on things as he slowly changed from the young man I first met back in December, how he is more confident about himself and also very protective over me when his male friends come by, making sure they understand I am his mom so they have to show me proper respect. Only once did it get a bit out of hand when I allowed him to have a weekend party at the house, one of the guys flirted more than the usual amount with me so Max laid down the law quickly mentioning his dad is a cop, even if I am only seven years older then his friends they seem to be fine with our way of life. Max threw one guy out of the house literally, when he saw him coming from my bedroom while I was taking a shower that night, Max telling him never to come around again or he would beat the daylights out of him. Murphy's law of course, Nolan happened to be pulling up to the house as Max was yelling at the poor guy then explained it all to Nolan who got very pissed until I could cool them both down that night, assuring them I was okay and nothing happened.
Waking up this morning now February, feeling happy with plans to pick up Megan today at the airport and Max having his temporary license begging me to drive. I got out of bed letting Jett out the door then went and showered, after drying off I grabbed my apricot silk shirt and casual black pants, then my black sandals. Picking up my jacket putting all the regular things in the pockets I headed down and kissed Max's head as I passed taking the coffee he had poured for me as he smiled “ So where is Aunt Meg staying mom?” I inhaled answering “ She got a friend to stay at her place in New York so they swapped I guess, she's staying at her apartment for the next few months, plus she still has a few shoots to do here why?” Max wiped the milk off his chin as I grinned shaking my head and he replied “ Because Dean called me asking.” I grinned nodding “ Guess Agent Victor is keeping tabs on her, that's kinda possessive.” We both laughed knowing Dean has taken a very strong liking to Megan in the past months just like I knew would happen. Max got up rinsing his bowl then set it in the dishwasher as I grabbed a pop tart he growled at me so I shrugged at him while he took my car keys off the hook by the garage door. I nodded as Jett stood by the front door waiting for us to leave pouring more coffee in a go cup, Max waiting before he opened the front door walking out with Jett, I closed and locked the door “ Remember we need short term parking because her flight has been delayed another hour son.” Max nodded “ I know mom, I got this and yes I love you even if you worry over the little things.” making me huff softly slapping his arm as he smiled back at me. Brianna, Ella and Julie will be here in March for the bridal shower over spring break then be back for the wedding, Megan having work in LA for the next few months definitely helped her schedule even though she'd take the time off if it wouldn't have worked out.
