Fayth once again sat on her bed, once again contemplating a very important decision.
Except this time it wasn't to decide whether to run away or not, it was what to wear for her supposedly 'first' day at Mackern High tomorrow morning
She held up both tops in the mirror, scrutinising every little detail about the two. In the end she went for the long sleeved, high necked grey crop top, knowing it would go well with her black pleated mini skirt and black Doc Martens.
She then took a good look at herself in the mirror, making sure she bore no resemblance to Amie Kelly; 'the gone girl'.
What had once been a short, brown bob was now flowing white blonde hair, reaching the top of her arse. A size 10 (NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT) was now a size 4. Spotty skin had cleared and taken on a translucent, ethereal look. Her blue eyes shone, they had somehow gotten lighter during her makeover and she was grateful for this. Her before brace covered teeth were now straight and sparkling.
She was the epitome of those 'popular' girls who she had once hated. Oh..well....that had been Amie, not Fayth.
She was finally getting her second chance and nobody was going to ruin this for her.
Not her past friends, her older brother who was convinced she wasn't dead as she could see from his desperate Facebook updates, nor the girls who had previously tortured her.
She was going into Senior year as Fayth Runestone, Amie Kelly did not exist. She looked around at the new life she had built herself, seeing as she was 18 during the summer, she had been able to get her own place, a small modern apartment on the other side of the river from her old home.
She had gotten a job back when she was Amie in a supermarket and had built up the money gradually (in a secret account) until she had gotten enough to pay rent for a new place. She had also sold some of her belongings over the
course of the months leading up to her running away, this had helped her pay for her makeover.
Now she had a job as a photographer for weddings and family portraits, at the weekends. It was in a small but popular firm owned by the guy who lived two doors down and it payed well. Fayth also had the odd makeup artist gig here an there, especially at the wedding she had shoots at.
Life was good for her so far, she had been gone for 5 months, missing the last few months of school and hiding in New York over the summer. The media attention about her case had died down and the police were beginning to let it drop, there had been no new leads about her since the had found her personal belongings in the river she had dropped them in, they were found a week after she had left.
Fayth had been so careful, months before she had run away she had set up social media accounts for Fayth and had posted stuff, so that the accounts wouldn't be new and suspicious once Amie went away. Recently she posted selfies and personal things about Fayth, mimicking the life of a girl who had existed for a full 18 years.
It was foolproof, no one would ever make the connection.
Fayth had a life before she went to Cali, she had lived in San Fran with her aunt before becoming a legal adult and moving here, she had a medical history; allergic to peanuts, broken her arm when she was seven, she even had an ex-boyfriend back in San Fran, his name was Samuel West. Fayth was very pleased with herself, she had wella nd truly thought this new life through. She should have been nervous about people recognising her in school tomorrow but truthfully she wasn't, what she was nervous about was making friends and whether Fayth's school life would be a repeat of Amie's. Then again she had the 'popular' look now and would surely be accepted to the posse. She knew the hierarchy of how Mackern worked....and she wouldn't follow it.
While most people would think she was mad for trying to stick out - what if people recognised her? Fayth wanted to make a name for herself, do the opposite of what Amie had done.
Amie had been geeky, shy, with little friends and the personality of soggy cardboard. She has no social life and basically had, had a glowing 'kick me' sign above her head.
Fayth was exuberant, with a bright personality that was hard to forget. A polar opposite of Amie, and that was how no one would ever make the connection. Not only did she look different , she was different, personality and all.
This was the year someone would challenge the social standing of Macken, shake things up a little and knock the Queen Bee of her pedestal.
That someone would be Fayth Runestone. She went to bed early that night, spreading herself out on the cloud soft queen bed.
Fayth needed rest for her big entrance tomorrow.
Watch out Macken, Fayth is coming.A/N
