"New" Girl

Fayth got up early the next morning, quickly changing into the outfit she had left out the night before.
As she caught a quick glance of herself in the mirror she could have sworn she saw a flash of Amie in her appearance, but when she looked back all she saw was the crystal eyed gaze of Fayth.
She then took her time in applying her makeup, something Amie had done rarely. She was determined to be nothing like her, even if it meant getting up an hour early in the mornings in order to get ready.
Fayth went into her kitchen, pouring herself a bowl of fruit loops and putting on the coffee machine. As her morning wake me up in the form of dark liquid drugs poured into her mug, she went over Fayth's life.
She needed a perfect alibi of a full life in order to convince people, she couldn't afford to slip up. Especially not in front of the people from the same town she had run away from. Fayth went onto Facebook, posting a status about 'starting' in Macken, almost immediately her inbox was flooded with messages from the students at Mackern. The 'Populars' offering to take her in, the Jocks asking for her snapchat and the odd Gossip asking for details on her life in Cali before she moved here. Everyone wanted a slice of the supposed 'new' girl, it was funny to see the difference between people's reactions to Amie and Fayth.
Fayth had already made a bigger impact before starting Macken than Amie had ever in the last few years. She downed her coffee and scoffed her fruit loops.  Picking up her apartment keys from the dish and her bag from the floor she took one last look around the room to see if she was forgetting anything. Macken was only a short distance from her building so she decided to walk instead of taking the bus. She put her earphones in and played a video of girls with Cali accents, making sure she could perfect the native tone.
As she got nearer and neared to the gates a strange feeling of dread came over her, for the first time in months she was starting to have doubts. Maybe she should have started school in another town, was this too risky?
If anyone recognised her, months of hard work would be for nothing and it would all be over. Fayth shook off those doubts, she had put too much effort into this for anyone to ever link her to Amie.  It would all be ok as long as she didn't slip up and she wouldn't.
Just before she entered the main building, a taloned hand caught her arm. She swung herself around to see Polly Ramone, the schools self proclaimed Queen. She broke the typical mean girl look by being a red head but it didn't make her any less vicious than a blonde.
"You're Fayth right?", Polly said, pronouncing her name like "Fiy-yeth".
"Faith' actually" Fayth said, correcting her
"Oh well whatever, I'm Polly Ramone I'm sure you've heard of me, daughter of Simon Ramone duh!" Polly flounced,
"I just wanted to welcome you to the school and say that of course I'm the most popular girl in the whole school and that you're welcome to join my clique" She tightened her grip on Fayth's arm, "But don't believe for one second that you will ever be more popular than me"
Polly's bright smile took on a threatening edge, her eyes flashing with menace.
"Oh Ehm Gee", Fayth gushed, putting on a fake smile, Polly smirked, "But if it's ok with you I'll pass on your kind offer, you see I'm perfectly capable of making my own friends and I don't need intimidation or Daddy's money to get to the top"
She plucked Polly's hand off her and let it drop, before turning on her heel and strutting toward the admin office.
People who had been watching the exchange started to whisper amongst themselves about what had just happened, no one had ever disrespected Polly like that before, if you did it was social suicide.
"You will regret this you know!" Polly screamed after her.
"Oh go steal some more lines from Mean Girls why don't you" Fayth grinned back.
Polly stamped her foot before flouncing back to her boyfriend, her whole group of wannabes scurrying after her.
Fayth looked down at the time - she had been in school for a total of 6 minutes and 47 seconds and had already put Polly down.  Something she had been wanting to do for years, something everyone wanted to do but was too afraid to.

HHEYYYYY GUYS I KNOW IT's A SHORT CHAP BUT BEAR WITH.
I introduced an important character here, Polly will be appearing frequently throughout the book. Remember this scene as Polly likes to hold grudges. I know this was a very cliche mean girl and her posse scene but I promise the whole story won't be this predictable!

In the next chap we will have Fayth's full school day I swear, get ready for lots of key characters and plot set-ups.
PPray to the unicorn gods for me because I start some really important exams tomorrow. They will be for 2 weeks and then I will be on summer hols for nearly 3 months so lots and lots of updates I promise.
Good luck to everyone else sitting exams and well done to those who just sat them.
Xoxo
