The Unpopular and the Popular

I am being tortured right now.

At the moment I’m with Giesel, who was plucking out dictionaries, surrounded by smart people, geeks, nerds, computer geniuses and books, lots and lots of books. Books that have terrible long words inside that I barely understand.

“Giesel, how long is this going to take?”

“Oh shush Cahill, why don’t you sit down for a while.”

I tried my best to find an empty table, because sitting with people 999 times smarter than you would be awkward. And they might go on talking about Star Wars or the cure for brain tumor or something.

I waited patiently for Giesel to finish. And by patiently I meant not really. Thirty seconds just passed and I was already bored.

“Excuse me, but can I sit here?” a girl’s voice asked.

I looked up and saw the most popular girl in Maine High: Christina Miller.

Christina was a blonde like me, but the shade was a lot darker. She had piercing bright blue eyes unlike mine. She was holding a book entitled: ‘How to be a More Better Cheerleader’. I’ve heard from Giesel that more and better weren’t supposed to go together because that was overly wrong in English grammar, but when you’re a guy like me, heck who cares?

  “Yeah sure,” I replied.

She took a seat across mine. She started reading. She was wearing the actual uniform instead of her cheerleading outfit.

“Aren’t you supposed to be out the field, you know, cheerleading?”

She smiled, but never took her eyes off the book, “That’s because practice was canceled.”

  “Uh, okay.”

I was sweating. The temperature around me just got higher. Christina Miller is actually talking to me! Cloud Cahill! The dumbest guy in school!

I suddenly became concerned with my looks. Was my hair a mess? Were my zits visible? I silently pleaded God for help.

“Cahill, we’re leaving,” I heard Giesel call me.

I was standing up when somebody suddenly pulled me from behind.

“What the heck! Dude, what’s wrong with- oh, it’s just you.”

I’m now standing face to face with EA, short for electric angel. She was kind of like a personal maid, except, well she wasn’t human, she was a robot my parents bought abroad. I don’t know where actually. I usually just spend time locked up in my room alone because they mostly go on business trips. She had icy blue eyes and blonde hair like mine. She was in her maid outfit today.

“Master Cloud, your parents asked me to give you this.” She handed me a small basket with a variety of fruits in it. It had an attached picture on the handle. I took the basket and removed the picture. It was a photo of my parents posing next to a farm. I looked at the back and see something written on it

Went to the Philippines for a business trip! Hope you eat the fruits Cloud!

  -Love, Mom and Dad

  “Uh… Thanks EA.”

Just then, Christina Miller appeared behind us, “Hey, you disappeared suddenly. I got worried.” Wait, the most popular girl in school got worried about me.

Ten points for Cloud Venetian Cahill.

“Is this your girlfriend Master Cahill?” EA asked.

“What?” I said. “NO! We’re uhhh, acquaintances! Yeah!”

Christina waved at EA and smiled. “Is this an actual robot?”

  “Yeah, my parents bought her.”

“Cahill!” I heard Giesel hiss behind me. “What took you so long?”

  “Sorry!” I say.

“SHHH!” the people on all tables shush us.

“I’ll be going ahead then,” Christina said. “See you around Cloud!”

She smiled and walked away. My knees suddenly went weak.

“Cahill we better go!” Giesel pulls my arm.

“Alright! Bye EA!” I said while being pulled away.

  “Goodbye master.”

Giesel practically dragged me out of the library. I had a goofy smile on my face.

  ‘See you around Cloud.’

She knows my name! The most popular girl knows my name! I was humming a happy tune. Then I guess Giesel got tired because she dropped me on the middle of an empty hallway.

  “Ow! Hey!”

“Do I really have to drag you? You’ve got legs, walk!”

“Fine!” I stood up and rubbed my sides. They hurt, a LOT.

We were climbing on the left staircase (Yes, when there is a left, then there is a right staircase). Christina’s voice was still ringing in my ears.

  ‘See you around Cloud.’

My smile got goofier by the second. I mean, how many popular girls notice nobodies like me?

  “You’re smiling again Cahill.”

  “What, no!”

“Liar,” she countered. “If she was wearing her cheerleader uniform I bet you would be staring at a somewhat lower point.” I blushed.

“Now you stopped smiling and your face is turning red.”

“Do you have two eyes on the back of head?” I asked.

  “No,” she replied.

When we reached the fourth floor, she then said, “Just one,” and went into our study room.

 Bloody hell.

A/N: SO SHORT AGAIN! I'm so sorry cuz there was this organization called 'school' which gives out forms and activities called 'projects and homeworks.' I promise it'll be longer... -_-
